Harington is currently enjoying a role in a very different fantasy project, voicing Gilderoy Lockhart in the full-cast audiobook of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. During an interview with Variety, Harington was asked the unavoidable question of whether he would consider returning to voice Jon Snow if Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire books were given the same treatment. His response was:
“No, god no. I don’t wanna go anywhere near it. I spent 10 years doing that. Thanks, I’m alright.”
While this could just be the actor not wanting to retread the same path as he has already walked in Game of Thrones, and he could be open to a new story within the realms of the Seven Kingdoms, it doesn’t sound as though he is in any rush to return to the fantasy saga in any way.
Back in 2024, Harington revealed why the planned Jon Snow sequel series had not materialized, saying at the time:
“What I can tell you is, it was HBO that came to me and said, ‘Would you consider this?’ My first reaction was no. And then I thought there could be an interesting and important story about the soldier after the war. I felt that there might be something left to say, and a story left to tell in a pretty limited way. We spent a couple of years back and forth developing it. And it just didn’t.”
Kit Harington Has Moved on from ‘Game of Thrones’
It is not unfair to say that Kit Harington’s career was ultimately changed by the role of Jon Snow in Game of Thrones, and since his appearance in the series, the actor has been expanding his range of movies and TV shows beyond dragons and epic sword battles.
Harington joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Eternals, making a limited appearance in the role of Dane Whitman, which was teased to continue with him becoming Black Knight and having some kind of connection to Mahershala Ali’s Blade. However, with Blade still nowhere in sight and Eternals also on the rocks, where his Marvel journey goes next is very uncertain.
However, Harington has appeared in several recent movies, such as Mark Wahlberg’s chart-topping The Family Plan 2, and werewolf horror, The Beast Within. His upcoming releases include the romance drama Eternal Return, and he will reprise his role as Henry Muck in the fourth season of Industry on HBO/BBC.
