FBI Season 7 Images Reveal Most Wanted’s Return With Emotional Nina & Scola Moments

FBI season 7 first look images preview the franchise’s latest mini-crossover with FBI: Most Wanted, featuring emotional scenes between Special Agent Nina Chase (Shantel VanSanten) and Special Agent Stuart Scola (John Boyd) when the show resumes. Scola and Chase are partners and co-parents in the FBI universe. With Chase transitioning from a recurring character in the flagship show to a series regular in Most Wanted, Scola stayed with the main show. Their last crossover happened in “White Buffalo” when Nina’s father and sister were in town.

TV Line hs shared the first look images (below) of FBI season 7’s winter premiere, teasing an emotional crossover. The winter premiere, titled “Descent,” is set to air on Tuesday, January 28 at 8 p.m./7p.m. In the episode, Stuart and the team try to prevent a terrorist attack after the chilling discovery behind an assistant U.S. attorney’s death. Given that Scola lost his older brother, Doug, during the 9/11 attack, the case would hit home. The images show Scola and Chase both in work and home settings. FBI‘s Jeremy Sisto is also seen assisting Stuart, while Zeeko Zaki and Missy Peregrym are in the field.

What This Means For Chase & Scola’s Relationship In FBI

FBI Season 7 Continues To Explore Their Relationship

In the first look images, Scola hands Chase a card at home, with both of them looking serious. Chase also seems to be holding back tears in the scene, which suggests the emotional weight of the case. Scola is set to confront a painful past in the new episode, and the first look images seem to confirm that he’s bringing Chase to the case, as he specializes in undercover work. The two first met in FBI season 4 and have overcome many obstacles while navigating their personal and work lives.

In FBI season 6, the couple went undercover as a married couple while working through their differences over how to be new parents. Despite disagreeing with each other about the operation and the future of their relationship, the two worked things out and came up with a plan to address the risk that comes with a career in the FBI. In a previous interview, Boyd expressed interest in further exploring Scola and Chase’s relationship, teasing “there’s so much to explore” with “their banter” and “chemistry” and “respect for each other.”

Our Take On Scola & Chase In The New FBI Episode

“Descent” Could Break Or Band The Couple

Scola and Chase share a strong foundation that allows them to overcome the challenges and obstacles in their relationship. As both FBI agents, they share the same risks that come with the job, but due to their different personalities and specialties, they have very different viewpoints on most subjects. VanSanten has previously talked about Nina’s toxic traits and her complicated family dynamics. The upcoming episode could potentially serve as a catalyst to bring growth to the two characters as partners, family and colleagues.

With the premiere featuring a crossover, FBI season 7 continues season 6’s path to explore Scola and Chase’s relationship and see how they’ll grow and evolve as a couple, which is something exciting to see. On the other hand, the case in “Descent” would be one of the most challenging ones in Scola’s career from a personal perspective. How the two will work and support each other during a difficult time like this is something very interesting to see. On the other hand, with Scola being so close to the case, the process won’t be easy.
