It’s been almost six months since Blue Bloods aired its series finale, but fans still aren’t quite ready to say goodbye to the hit procedural show. Blue Bloods was canceled after its 14th season on CBS, and although fans still have the spin-off series, Boston Blue, to look forward to, it undoubtedly won’t be the same. However, to prepare for Boston Blue, it seems fans have begun rewatching the original Blue Bloods series, which has helped it jump back into the Paramount+ top 10, sitting at #10 at the time of writing. It’s not common for shows that have been off the air as long as Blue Bloods to find streaming success, so this is a testament to the dedicated fan base the show has. It first aired in 2010.
CBS aired 293 episodes of Blue Bloods during the 14 years the show was running, and a core group of stars appeared in every single series installment. Leading the charge was Donnie Wahlberg, who starred in all 293 episodes as Danny Reagan. Wahlberg will reprise his role in Boston Blue, which also stars Ernie Hudson, Sonequa Martin-Green, and Maggie Lawson. Following behind Wahlberg and also starring in all 293 episodes of Blue Bloods were Bridget Moynahan as Erin Reagan-Boyle and Will Estes as Jamie Reagan. Len Cariou and Tom Selleck also starred in every episode as Henry Reagan and Frank Reagan, respectively, and Andrew Terraciano’s Sean Reagan was missing from only one episode. While Blue Bloods is a police procedural following NYC cops, it’s also a story about how the Reagan family deals with the challenges of being police officers.
When Does ‘Boston Blue’ Come Out?
CBD has yet to announce exactly when Boston Blue will air its first episode, but it has confirmed that it will premiere before the end of this year. New episodes of Boston Blue will air on CBS on Fridays at 10 pm EST, and they will begin streaming on Paramount+ the following day. In addition to starring in Blue Bloods and Boston Blue, Donnie Wahlberg is also known for his work as Cubby Barnes in Ransom, the 1996 crime thriller starring Mel Gibson. He also starred as Vincent Gray in The Sixth Sense, the psychological thriller from M. Night Shyamalan starring Bruce Willis.
All episodes of Blue Bloods are streaming on Paramount+. Stay tuned to Collider for future updates and coverage of the upcoming Boston Blue spin-off series.
