Fire Country Season 2 Episode 9 Recap: No Future, No Consequence
Fire Country Season 2 Episode 9 opens with the Lazarus fire 35% contained, 300 miles North of town.
Bode and Three Rock work tirelessly to dig trenches to slow the fire. Vince continues to reassure Gabriela that he’s fine. Despite Gabs not wanting to let it go.
Gene worries that Jake won’t return from the campaign fire for her birthday. She makes Jake promise he won’t die.
Families say their goodbyes as Station 42 prepares to leave for the campaign firefight. At camp, Station 42 and Three Rock get their marching orders.
A group of firefighters arrived with some injured. It’s the team Station 42 and Three Rock were supposed to support. Now, it’s only up to them to hold the line and keep the fire from spreading.
Manny and Eve have an altercation about Manny’s behavior at the Firefighter’s ball, which may cause Manny to lose his job.
Vince falls to the ground, and Gabriela rushes to help. Bode sees and knows something is wrong.
By Day 6, the fire is only 25% contained. Vince sends Jake and Sharon to a site where firefighters were using explosives to clear a site before it caught fire. They arrive to find injured firefighters.
Jake freezes in action, but Manny grabs explosives tied to the trees and throws them right as they go off.
Bode and Vince have a memorable moment as the firefighters walk through the woods five miles from camp. Bode confronts Gabriela about Vince. Gabs is in her head about Manny’s recent behaviors. Bode offers comfort.
By Day 20, the firefighters have a day of mandatory rest, even as the fire is 15% contained. At camp, Vince sings around a campfire while some inmates tell stories.
Bode, Eve, and Jake step away for some quiet time and reminiscing. Manny goes to his tent, and Eve follows to give him a piece of her mind.
The chief in command comes to the campfire, where everyone is relaxing, and delivers bad news. CalFire lost two firefighters. The group disbands for the night to retire.
Vince and Sharon have a disagreement. Bode and Gabriela have a moment on the swings. Gabriela confesses to Bode about Vince’s heart problem.
Bode confronts Vince. Vince tries to explain his behavior to Bode. He agrees to tell Sharon once they return home.
Vince gives Jake a reprieve from fighting the fire so he can be home for Gene’s birthday. The two go out on patrol before Jake leaves.
Eve comes to Manny and Gabriela with good news. Manny won’t lose his job over hitting Luke and starting the station fire.
While Vince, Jake, and some of Station 42 are patrolling and putting out fires, Vince and an injured firefighter get trapped by fire. Sharon finds out Vince is having heart problems as he collapses in the woods.
Three Rock rushes to the rescue with chainsaws and hoses. But the fire is too big to fight down. So Bode and Jake decide to run through the fire. They run back through the blaze carrying the unconscious men.
Vince decides to go to the hospital and take time off. He’s recommending Sharon to take his place.
Bode confronts Gabriela about keeping Vince’s heart a secret. They have a big argument that ends up with a hot makeout session. Gabriela regrets the behavior and walks away.
By day 44 of the fire at Lazarus State Park, there is 65% containment. The governor comes to the camp for a press conference. She brings Eve up and talks about Three Rock.
She gives the amazing news that Three Rock wil stay open. The inmates boost Eve in the air. Vince calls Manny to give him a head’s up that he has a warrant out for his arrest.
Vince says he’s going to call Sharon’s sister, Sheriff Deputy Mickey Fox to help.
Back at Station 42, a guilt-driven Gabriela enounters her fiance. Three Rock gets ready to head back to camp. Gabriela realizes Manny isn’t at camp with them.
We see him walking down a gravel road alone. Vince gives Bode and Sharon the best news. The commander of the Lazarus fire recommended Bode for an exceptional conduct credit that took 12 months off Bode’s 11 month sentence.
Bode is coming home.
