Fire Country Season 2 Premiere: Bode’s Future After Jail Time & Genevieve Bombshell Teased By Star & Co-Creator
Fire Country star and co-creator Max Thieriot opens up about what Bode’s life will be like now that he’s out of prison again, as well as the shocking revelation about Genevieve. While the prisoner-turned-firefighter was back in jail after covering for Freddy’s drug involvement, he returns to Three Rock and the force. It’s also revealed upon his return that Cara’s daughter, Genevieve, is actually his daughter, too.
Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Thieriot revealed what to expect from Bode in Fire Country season 2 following his jail time and subsequent revelation about Genevieve. The star and co-creator says the bombshell gives him a new reason to fight for freedom, while teasing how his behavior will alter to accommodate these goals. Check out what Thieriot had to say below:
He will have a hard time adjusting to his new perspective. The first time around at Three Rock he was always reacting and he’d be impulsive in all these incidents because he felt like he had to save the day all the time. Now, he has a different outlook because he understands the game that has to be played. Bode really needs to walk the line if he actually wants to see this program through.
Bode also had a much different reason to fight for his freedom now that he knows Genevieve is his daughter. That is going to be a big focus for him this season. There are a lot of decisions to be made around Genevieve and the possibility of being a father. Once it finally sets in, it’ll give him a real purpose, whereas before he was doing things for love or his family, and never doing it for himself
How Fire Country Season 2 Could Impact Bode’s Future
Fire Country season 1’s twist ending set Bode back by putting him in jail again, despite his intention to help Freddy by doing so. This means he’ll have a major uphill battle ahead of him as he gets accustomed not only to his daughter, but also his now-fractured relationship with Gabriela. Eve is also now in a more superior role at Three Rock, expected to offer more scrutiny following the drug investigation in season 1.
With so many changes now transpiring in his life, Bode clearly has a long path to traverse as he proves himself once again to his fellow firefighters. Now, however, he has Genevieve to fight for, giving him a more tangible reason to tough it out no matter what obstacles get thrown in his way. This revelation may give him the push he needs to keep going forward, no matter how long his path of regaining others’ trust is.
It’s also possible Bode’s future coincides with a Fire Country spinoff in the works, which actor Morena Baccarin’s upcoming character, Sheriff Mickey, is expected to set up. Perhaps her appearance in season 2 will be an important catalyst for his redemption, setting up the wider world of the franchise while also pushing the story forward. With plenty of interesting developments ahead, it remains to be seen just how the firefighter’s future shapes up.
