Fire Country Stars Weigh In On Bode & Gabriela’s Complicated Romance: “It’s An Interesting One”

Fire Country stars Diane Farr and Billy Burke have weighed in on Bode and Gabriela’s complicated romance, hinting at how it will continue developing in season 3. During Fire Country season 3, episode 1, Gabriela (Stephanie Arcila) confessed she still has feelings for Bode (Max Thieriot), despite being just about to marry Diego (Rafael de la Fuente) before a helicopter literally crashed their wedding. Bode starts to realize he still has feelings for her too, with her later confessing to her fiancé the pair kissed in season 2.

Speaking with Screen Rant, Farr and Burke, who portray Bode’s parents, Sharon and Vince respectively, explained their perspective on Bode and Gabriela’s relationship in Fire Country season 3. Farr explained the importance of the scene where Gabriela’s father, Manny (Kevin Alejandro) asks her to keep them apart, with her not having a definitive answer, which will alter as the season progresses. Burke said Vince has a more objective perspective, being okay with the relationship given his professional work with both his son and Manny’s daughter. Check out what Farr and Burke had to say below:

Diane Farr: Yeah, that was a really good one. When we were filming the scene, Kevin Alejandro is so strong, and convincing, and passionate. I kept nodding and the director had to come and say, “You can’t tell the audience an answer”, because, at that point, Sharon doesn’t have an answer.

Her relationship to the question changes throughout the whole season and her idea of what she thinks works for Bode flip flops more than once this season, based on what’s being shown to her. It’s an interesting one. Sharon does not do a good job of keeping her nose out of other people’s business, but she’s trying.

Billy Burke : Just on a human level, I think that Vince has a departure from Gabriela that Manny can’t have. He’s her dad. I’m not her dad, so Vince can look at it more objectively. That’s really the only logic I think there is to it.

Although he really loves and wants to protect Gabriela, it’s not nearly on the same level as Manny of course would. But there is that element of, as there is with basically everybody in the tight family circle, and I don’t mean just the Leones, but our core family circle, he feels a responsibility to look out for everybody.

What Farr & Burke’s Reactions To Bode & Gabriela Mean For Fire Country Season 3
Bode’s Parents Will Have Very Different Perspectives On Things

While only the first episode has aired so far, Fire Country season 3 has indicated plenty of tension surrounding Bode, Gabriela, and Diego’s new love triangle. This also seems like it’ll spread to other characters, especially Bode’s parents, whose viewpoints could see them clash in future episodes. Since Manny has been arrested for punching Luke during season 2, he won’t be around much to guide his daughter toward Diego, whom he feels is the right person for her. This means the unsure pair are on their own in terms of what they decide to do.

Since Manny asked Sharon to look after Gabriela, it seems like the duo’s potential return to one another is going to impact multiple Fire Country characters. While she’s now been honest with Diego about the kiss between her and Bode, there’s liable to be fallout from this, potentially breaking down trust between them. Even though this could signal her and the protagonist getting together in the end, the complicated nature of their relationship right now means it’s not a guarantee. Especially now that Bode’s parents could become involved as the story moves forward.

Our Take On Bode & Gabriela’s Relationship In Fire Country Season 3
Will They Really Get Together In The End?

Given the level of romantic tension between the pair since season 1, it makes sense for Fire Country to eventually pair Bode and Gabriela again, perhaps later in season 3. However, with her commitment to Diego already, coupled with a potential new love interest for the protagonist in the form of ex-con Audrey James (Leven Rambin), it seems like they won’t be rekindling their flame anytime soon. But, with the season only just beginning, there’s plenty of time for their relationship to get back on track.
