Drescher, 67, and Taylor, 92, played the dynamic mother-daughter duo in The Nanny, which aired from 1993 to 1999. Drescher, who created the show with her ex-husband Peter Marc Jacobson, starred as Fran Fine, a quirky bridal store worker-turned-nanny. Taylor’s character, Sylvia, was based on Drescher’s real mother, whose larger-than-life personality became iconic alongside her on-screen husband, Mort, who was also named after Fran’s real father.
Taylor’s role as Sylvia has continued to shape her career, with fans often associating her more with the character than her real self. She has continued to act in notable roles on shows like How I Met Your Mother and Law & Order: SVU.
Drescher, for her part, is set to reprise her role as Bobbi Flekman in the upcoming Spinal Tap II, and continues to serve as president of the actors’ union, SAG-AFTRA.
