The unit is back together as production for Chicago P.D. Season 13 continues. The new season sees some fresh changes as Toya Turner departs the show after one season, while Arienne Mandi joins. Thanks to series star Marina Squerciati, we now have a glimpse into the latest and youngest member of the unit. The actress posted an image on her Instagram account featuring two of the show’s series regulars and the new addition. Mandi joined Benjamin Levy Aguilar and Patrick John Flueger for a cool photo as they continued filming scenes for the upcoming season. “ChiHards, welcome Officer Imani! She’s awesome and fierce and wears cool shoes and we like her a lot. #chicagopd @arienne_mandi #ariennemandi #team #wolfpack #imani,” Squerciati captioned her post.
When Mandi was cast in the show, it was reported that she would be playing a character named Naomi Kerr, but the name could change. The caption reveals that the name did change, and the character is called Imani. She is the youngest member of the unit, and her style is quite different from the others. While she does wear the signature jeans and top that are common in the show’s wardrobe, her jeans reflect the current fashion trend of baggy jeans. And her shoes are cool too! The original version of the character was supposed to be a former soldier and military contractor who thrives in dangerous situations. It’s unclear if that has changed, but given Squerciati’s description of the character as “fierce,” she still has it.
‘Chicago P.D.’ Will Return Soon
The image shared is further confirmation that the show is indeed in production and will return soon. “We had a few storylines we couldn’t get to this season that I still think are out there and could be interesting next year,” showrunner Gwen Sigan said in an interview after the explosive Season 12 finale. A lot has changed among the unit members since the show’s inception, and Deputy Chief Reid (Shawn Hatosy) served as a wake-up call to many team members, reminding them that nothing was the same. Chicago P.D. Season 13 will explore how the team navigates its new dynamics as individuals. “So there’s a lot of, I think, interesting places we could go and we’ll just hopefully make it fresh and different,” said the showrunner.
