It’s been 36 years since ‘Full House’ made its debut on September 22, 1987, and audiences fell in love with the Tanner family. The stories of Danny, Joey, and Jesse as they raised Danny’s daughters — D.J., Stephanie, and Michelle — captivated audiences and made them laugh and cry in equal amounts. Although the original series concluded in 1995, it wouldn’t be the last time fans would see the Tanners.
In 2016, the cast reunited for ‘Fuller House,’ a follow-up series on Netflix. The show followed D.J. and Stephanie Tanner and their childhood neighbor Kimmy Gibler as they raised their kids in the home they grew up in. The series harkened back to the original show with ease, and reunited the cast — save for Ashley and Mary Kate Olsen.
The reboot series came to an end in June 2020, but with the 34th anniversary of the original show, what better time to look back at the Tanner family. Scroll through our gallery to see photos of the cast then and now.
Candace Cameron Bure
Candace Cameron Bure started playing D.J. Tanner on ‘Full House’ when she was roughly 11-years-old. In the time since, she’s blossomed into a stunning actress and mother, after marrying NFL player Valeri Bure in 1996. She has two sons: Lev and Maksim and a daughter: Natasha. She returned to the role of D.J. for Fuller House from 2016 to 2020.
Jodie Sweetin as Stephanie Tanner
Jodie Sweetin began playing Stephanie Tanner when she was just five years old! All these years later, she’s blossomed into a stunning actress, taking on projects outside of her ‘Full House’ family. She also has two daughters of her own Zoie and Beatrix.
Bob Saget as Danny Tanner
Bob Saget played father-of-three Danny Tanner on ‘Full House’ and reprised his role for appearances in ‘Fuller House.’ Bob was always beloved for his doting, fatherly character. Bob has had many roles since ‘Full House,’ and a very successful standup comedy career.
Dave Coulier as Joey Gladstone
Dave Coulier played Joey Gladstone on ‘Full House’ and in appearances on ‘Fuller House.’ Dave was often credited for his hilarious voices and fun impressions he would bring out on the show. He married his wife Melissa Bring, a producer and photographer, in 2014.
John Stamos as Jesse Katsopolis
John Stamos played Jesse Katsopolis on the original series and in appearances on ‘Fuller House!’ The original show saw Jesse become a goofy, rocker uncle to a husband and father of twin boys. John married actress Caitlin McHugh in 2018, and they have a three-year-old son Billy together.
Lori Loughlin as Becky Katsopolis
Lori Loughlin played Rebecca ‘Becky’ Katsopolis on the original series and in ‘Fuller House until 2018. Loughlin was let go from the reboot following her involvement in the college admissions scandal, which she served two months in prison for in 2020.
Ashley & Mary Kate Olsen as Michelle Tanner
Twins Ashley & Mary Kate Olsen played Michelle Tanner from 1987 until the series finale in 1995. The twins were no more than infants when the series started and, despite fans’ wishes, did not return for ‘Fuller House.’ Still, the twins have had successful careers in fashion and entertainment after their breakout roles on the show.
