‘Fuller House’ Cast on Season 2, Coming Back to the Show as Moms

“Fuller House” stars Candace Cameron Bure, Jodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber say their children all love that their moms are on the show.

“They come to all the tapings and it’s on Netflix, which they watch all the time. I hear the theme song playing downstairs, and I’m like, ‘Oh, they’re watching “Fuller House.”’ I mean, it’s crazy,” Sweetin, who plays Stephanie Tanner, said. “They think it’s pretty funny that their friends are all excited when I come pick them up from school.”

“I know for my kids, they definitely prefer ‘Fuller House’ over ‘Full House,’ because they just make fun of my hairstyles and my clothes,” Bure, who plays DJ Tanner, said.

In an interview for the ABC News special, “The Year: 2016,” airing on Dec. 20 at 9 p.m. ET, Bure, Sweetin and Barber reflected on their time on the original show “Full House,” and what it was like to reprise their roles for the revival on Netflix.

“It’s like time never passed. We stepped right back into these roles effortlessly,” Barber, who plays Kimmy Gibbler, said.

“We’ve all been very close over the years, so this wasn’t this big reunion,” Bure said. “It was more of coming back onto our stage and seeing the sets and going, ‘We get to do this all over again.’”

Both Sweetin and Barber’s daughters appear in the latest “Fuller House” season.

“My daughter Zoie has been pestering me … like, ‘So, mom, when am I going to be on an episode?’ And I was like, ‘Okay, when it’s appropriate.’” Sweetin said. “She was so excited.”

“It was very much a role reversal for me to be the mom watching my kid on stage and having to fill out a work permit, which I had never done before,” Barber said. “I suddenly was super critical, like, thinking to myself, ‘Oh my god, stop yawning, look alive.’ … Like who is this? I’m not a stage mom.”
The ladies said they embrace getting recognized by fans for their “Full House” and “Fuller House” roles, though Barber said she does have one issue.

“The only think I don’t like is when people tell me to keep my shoes on, ‘Don’t take off your socks, Kimmy.’ I’m like, ‘That was a bit like 20 years ago. It’s not really me,’” Barber said, laughing.

Barber and Bure had their own fan moment for season 2 of “Fuller House” when New Kids on the Block appeared in an episode.

“We were like, ‘We have to go sneak over to their dressing rooms and say, “Hello,” just to make sure everything’s fine, make sure they’re taken care of,’” said Bure. “And we did. And we were like giddy, giddy 13-year-olds.”

“We were, like, sneaking pictures, selfies of them in the background,” Barber said.

“They were ridiculous. It was hilarious,” Sweetin said. “I was like, ‘You guys, you’ve met them before.’”
