Game of Thrones star Clive Russell joins the cast of The Witcher season 4

Game of Thrones veteran Clive Russell (the Blackfish) joins the cast of The Wither season 4 as shape-shifting storyteller Stribog.
The other day, Netflix revealed that it was going into production on the fourth and fifth seasons of The Witcher, which will bring the streamer’s epic fantasy show to an end. Netflix released a bunch of images of the cast — including newcomer Liam Hemsworth, who’s replacing Henry Cavill as lead character Geralt of Rivia — gathering for a table read. There’s also a video:
Redanian Intelligence, always the first stop for any information about The Witcher, combed through the video and spotted several new cast members milling about. One of them is Clive Russell, who Game of Thrones fans will remember as Catelyn Stark’s gruff uncle Brynden “the Blackfish” Tully. Long may he embarrass his nephew Edmure with his superior bowmanship:

The final two seasons of The Witcher will be based on the final three books in author Andrzej Sapkowski’s Witcher saga: Baptism of Fire, The Tower of Swallows and The Lady of the Lake. According to RI, Russell will play Stribog, a shapeshifting storyteller who wanders the continent telling stories in exchange for food and shelter. He’ll appear in the opening scene of season 4 alongside actor Serrana Su-Ling Bliss, who plays the character Nimue.
RI also noted actor Linden Porco in the video. He’ll play Percival Schuttenbach, a gnome who will travel with Geralt for a while on Geralt’s quest to find his surrogate daughter Ciri, who was warped for away near the end of The Witcher season 3. We can also see The Matrix veteran Laurence Fishburne in the mix; he’ll play ethical vampire Regis. Geralt will collect quite the colorful pack of traveling companions in the seasons to come.

And of course we see veterans from the earlier seasons of the shows, like Freya Allen as Ciri, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer, and Joey Batey as the bard Jaskier. What we don’t know is when The Witcher season 4 will air on Netflix, but smart money is on sometime in 2026. The good news is that, since Netflix is filming these final two seasons back to back, we probably won’t have to wait too long then to see the fifth and final season.
