General Hospital Fans Outraged by Dante’s ‘Out of Line’ Reaction to Gio

On Tuesday’s episode of the ABC daytime drama, it followed up with Rocco being admitted to the hospital after suffering from alcohol poisoning on Monday’s episode. Dante laid the blame on Gio, who was taking care of an inebriated Rocco as Danny sought him out to help as they were both scared of getting in trouble.

Dante did not want to heart it from Gio or anyone else defending Gio such as Lois and Cody. He said it didn’t matter as his son has alcohol poisoning and would have gotten worse in the boathouse if Cody didn’t check on Rocco’s breathing.Lois chimed in and told Dante that that wasn’t fair and that Gio didn’t force Rocco to drink. Dante threw back that Gio had him in the boathouse. Dr. Park interrupted the argument to update them all about Rocco, who was going to be okay. After being in Rocco’s room with Lulu, Dante left to pull Gio for a private chat, which Lois came to.

During their talk, Dante asked Gio if he took Rocco to the college party. Gio responded ‘no’ and explained that he was already at the party with Emma, Joss and other friends when Danny came to him for help with Rocco. He elaborated that before that moment, he wasn’t aware they were there and that he had plans to stay and take care of Rocco when Danny got him involved.

Dante asked Gio why didn’t he contact him or Lulu and Gio acknowledged that he should have done that. He also stated that he wasn’t aware how bad Rocco’s condition was at the time. Dante went on about having Gio arrested for giving Rocco alcohol which is a misdemeanor and how Rocco’s current condition would make it felony. Gio told Dante that he never gave Rocco alcohol nor did he see him drink. Dante said to Gio, how does he know he is telling the truth. Then Dante yelled at Lois for defending Gio and said it’s not going to work this time. He further attacked Gio for being an adult and not coming to them because he didn’t want to get Rocco and Danny in trouble.

General Hospital fans dislike Dante’s behavior towards Gio in this and weren’t too keen for it to be what may be the storyline used to reveal to Dante that Gio is his biological son with Brook Lynn. On X formerly Twitter, one fan said: “Bringing this back because this is so dramatic and forced just to add some type of contention between Dante and Gio before the reveal. Your 15 year old sneaking out to a party and drinking is no reason to be attacking Gio’s character lol.” A second fan said: “Dante out of line [sic]. Especially with doubling down on blaming Gio and accusing him of lying to cover his a-s. Dante better deliver some hard punishment to the person really responsible—Rocco”

A fan on the General Hospital subreddit for today’s episode (May 6) wrote: “Ok I get Dante was afraid (and probably has lingering PTSD from losing Sam) but as of now he knows his kid is fine. From this point on he’s just being an a–h-le.” Another said: “Dante is being really unreasonable. Gio didn’t know Rocco was there. And nobody put a gun to Rocco’s head. Danny told him to just hold the cup if he wanted.”
