‘Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage’ Season 2 Cast Changes: 1 Star Potentially Exiting, Several Are Returning!

Will Sasso – Returning!

Will Sasso will be returning as Mandy’s father, Jim McAllister.

Jim McAllister is a grounded, no-nonsense Texan with a dry sense of humor and a strong moral compass. First introduced in Young Sheldon, he’s Mandy’s father—protective, practical, and not one to mince words. Though initially wary of Georgie, Jim gradually shows his softer side, revealing a man who cares deeply beneath the stoic exterior. He values hard work, honesty, and family, and often acts as a quiet anchor amid the ups and downs of young parenthood. In Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, Jim’s steady presence offers both wisdom and subtle comic relief as the family navigates new challenges.

Rachel Bay Jones – Returning!

Rachel Bay Jones will be returning as Mandy’s mom, Audrey McAllister!

Audrey McAllister is Mandy’s spirited, outspoken mother, first seen in Young Sheldon and continuing her role in Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage. Quick with a sharp remark and fiercely protective of her daughter, Audrey often masks her deep concern with biting humor and tough love. She isn’t afraid to speak her mind—especially when it comes to Georgie—but her intentions always stem from love and a desire to see Mandy thrive. Audrey brings energy, attitude, and heart to every family moment, adding both tension and levity as she learns to balance pride, tradition, and her evolving role as a grandmother.

Jessie Prez – Returning!

Griselda‘s Jessie Prez will return to reprise his role as Ruben, a long-time employee at McAllister’s tire store who’s less than enthusiastic about the shop’s newest hire, Jim’s son-in-law, Georgie

If you don’t know, he was not involved in the Young Sheldon universe prior to Georgie & Mandy, and was a welcome addition to the cast!

Dougie Baldwin photo

Dougie Baldwin – Returning!

Dougie Baldwin will be back to portray Connor McAllister! Dougie is also new to the Young Sheldon universe, but his character is not.

Joe Apollonio played Connor during one episode of Young Sheldon back in season 6, but was recast for this series.

Connor is described as “a talented oddball with musical prowess who still lives with his parents. Coddled by his mother, Audrey, and hassled by his father, Jim, Connor doesn’t fit in — even in his own family.”

Christopher Gorham – Could Be Forced to Exit!

Christopher Gorham was cast as Scott, Mandy’s ex boyfriend, for season 1. Shortly after, he was cast on another CBS series, Sheriff Country, which is an hour-long drama.

Fans believe this puts his role in Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage at risk.

Showrunner Steve Holland said of Christopher to TV Line, “We don’t want to recast. We love Chris. That’s a CBS show as well, so our hope is that we can work it out with their production team when we need him, and we can get ahead. One of the benefits of that show being single camera is he probably won’t be shooting every day. Obviously, it’s out of the country, which makes it a little tricky, but we’re pretty confident we can work it out.”

Could Lance Barber be back again?

Lance Barber, who portrayed Georgie’s late father and Mary’s husband in Young Sheldon, made a surprise appearance in season 1, episode 12 of Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage. He appeared in a fantasy sequence, as his character is actually deceased.

Fans are hoping he could appear in an additional capacity going forward, such as in a flash back or potentially another dream sequence.

Why Iain Armitage’s Sheldon Might Not Return

Iain Armitage portrayed Sheldon in the Young Sheldon universe, but it’s unclear if he’ll be returning at this time. The co-creator of the series explained why we may not be seeing him any time soon.

“We would love to [have Sheldon appear] if we found the right episode for Iain,” co-creator Steve Holland said to TV Line. “We love him, and he’s been super supportive … but we’re trying to establish this show and give it its own identity.”

“Sheldon is in California now, so if Sheldon is coming into the story, there has to be a bigger reason for it. But we also know from Big Bang…that Sheldon didn’t come home a lot. He left and didn’t come [back] much, and Georgie was left to pick up the brunt of the family baggage.”
