Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage sometimes goes for silliness over relatability, and that’s a shame.
The problem of Cee Cee being unable to sleep was one of its most relatable storylines, but once Meemaw got involved, things got silly.
Still, I always love it when she and Mary are on-screen, and we even got a Dale cameo. Plus, Connor had an actual storyline.
The opening scene of Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage Season 2 Episode 15 got my attention because the same thing happened when my niece was little: she had a favorite little stuffed toy that she couldn’t sleep without and was forever losing.
Of course, we didn’t have anyone in our family who could create a new one, nor anyone who was so money-hungry they would sell it and cause trouble.
I’m not sure how I feel about that plot development. It was typical Meemaw, but it was… silly.
It wasn’t as bad as when she got involved with illegal gambling when Cee Cee was an infant (and by the way, I can’t believe that kid is already three years old!), but it seemed heartless that Meemaw would sell the toy that Mary went to the trouble of sewing so that Cee Cee would have it.
Mandy should have known better than to leave Meemaw alone with the toy or with anything else, though. You can’t turn your back on Meemaw without her coming up with some harebrained scheme, especially where money is concerned.
It was pretty brazen of her and Mandy to sell the fake Beanie Baby toys in the same store that didn’t have the real thing, though, and the scene with the woman who was offended by the idea of a knockoff was hilarious.
And as cruel as it was to rope Mary into this scheme by pretending it was for charity, the tag with Mary running into a mother who had one of the toys and treating her kid like an invalid almost made it worth it.
