Get Ready for More Thrills and Suspense: “Tracker” Season 2 is Coming to CBS

Tracker has already scored a season 2 renewal at CBS. Based on Jeffery Deaver’s novel The Never Game, the new show follows the story of a man named Colter Shaw, who travels the country in an RV helping people locate missing persons and solve crimes. The Tracker cast features Justin Hartley, Robin Wright, Abby McEnany, Eric Graise, and Fiona Rene.

As per Paramount, Tracker has now been officially renewed for season 2. It will be a part of the 2024–2025 television season. CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach indicated that Tracker’s renewal was due to its high ratings and the fact that the series “has kept the momentum going.” Check out the full quote from Reisenbach below:

“TRACKER kicked off our premiere week with a ratings bang and has kept the momentum going. We knew we had something special when we saw the very first cut of the series and the overwhelming audience response confirms it. We couldn’t be more grateful to Justin, the talented cast, the incredible writing and producing teams and our partners at 20th Television for such compelling episodes. And, of course, we’re also so thankful to the millions of viewers tuning in each week.”

Could Tracker Become The Next Big CBS Show?

Tracker’s season 2 renewal is impressive because it is happening early on in the run of season 1. So far, the show has only aired its first four episodes, with the next set to air on Sunday, March 17. Tracker season 1 will be comprised of 13 episodes, which means that this renewal comes before the halfway point. CBS’ swift decision speaks to the smash hit quality that Reisenbach describes.

According to the Nielsen list, Tracker is currently the #1 show on television. It is the most-watched new series since Young Sheldon season 1 in the 2017-2018 season, and is averaging a high number of viewers per episode. These high ratings are coupled with a good critical reception, as Tracker’s reviews situate it at an 88% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Between these stats and its early renewal, Tracker may just be setting itself up to become the next big show. Season 1 has garnered a number of comparisons to the series Reacher, which is one of Prime Video’s most popular shows. Perhaps these Reacher similarities indicate similar success for Tracker as it becomes a two-season series.
