The cast and crew of the Paramount+ comedy “Ghosts” shot the entirety of Season 3 in Montreal for about half the year. So arriving at San Diego Comic-Con to a sea of adoring fans was a “surreal” experience, according to series star Utkarsh Ambudkar.

“We’re basically shooting 22 episodes in another country for most of the year, six or seven months. So to then come back to the States and walk into a room with thousands of people, who are apparently there to see us, is absolutely surreal,” Ambudkar said. “It’s so affirming, and it goes to show how much of a people’s show ‘Ghosts’ has become.”

Ambudkar sat down with co-stars Román Zaragoza, Rebecca Wisocky and Richie Moriarty in the Variety Studio, presented by Google TV, at 2024 San Diego Comic-Con to discuss the success of “Ghosts” and the upcoming fourth season.

“Ghosts” follows a young couple, Sam (Rose Mclver) and Jay (Ambudkar), who unknowingly inherit a haunted mansion with plans of turning it into a bed and breakfast. But after a freak accident, Sam is suddenly able to see all her supernatural housemates, putting a dent in the plans of the B&B.

In the new season of “Ghosts,” Ambudkar’s character Jay will finally be able to see the spirits for himself. Although the details are still blurry for Season 4, Ambudkar is excited to interact with his co-stars face-to-face for the first time.

“For me as an actor, it will be so nice to be able to make eye contact with my co-workers for the first time. I mean it’s pretty cool,” Ambudkar said.
