The CBS supernatural comedy series Ghosts has returned for its third season, and now it has been renewed for season 4. Based on the British show of the same name, Ghosts follows married couple Jay and Sam as they pursue their dreams of opening a BnB in upstate New York. However, after an accident, Sam finds that she can see the various spirits that haunt the property and become their only conduit to the world of the living. By blending heartfelt humor with its clever premise, Ghosts goes above and beyond most sitcoms.
Debuting in 2021, Ghosts has earned high marks from critics, and each season has scored above 90% on Rotten Tomatoes, including an elusive 100% for season 2. Although the jury is still out on season 3, it isn’t likely to fade in quality, especially as it continues to add new wrinkles to the ghost/human dynamics and explore the backstory of the ghosts. Not long after the season 3 premiere, the latest news finds CBS has renewed Ghosts for a fourth season. Praising the show’s increasing popularity and high ratings, CBS President of Entertainment Amy Reisenbach said “GHOSTS and FIRE COUNTRY are proven viewer favorites on both broadcast and streaming thanks to exceptional storytelling, talented actors, and an ever-growing fan base.” Like Ghosts, the popular drama Fire Country was also quickly renewed just weeks after its season 2 debut. Ghosts season 4 will be part of CBS’ 2024-2025 TV slate.

Already in its third season, Ghosts shows no signs of stopping anytime soon and the network is hoping to ride the wave of momentum by renewing the comedy once again. Less than a month into its truncated season 3, CBS gave the show a resounding endorsement by earmarking its spot in their 2024-2025 season.

Because anything could happen during season 3, it is difficult to predict exactly what will happen in season 4. If Flower really is gone to the other side, it ups the stakes of the show considerably as now any main ghost could be taken away. Regardless of what happens in the extensive storylines, fans can expect to see more shenanigans around the mansion.
The relationship between Isaac and Nigel will likely continue to blossom with a few bumps along the way, and season 4 might even shed more light on peripheral ghosts like Stephanie and Crash. Sam and Jay will continue to get the BnB off the ground while facing the various problems that come along with living among a host of needy ghosts in a mansion that’s falling apart. Ghosts works so well because the story possibilities are limitless.
