Killing Jay in Ghosts season 4 isn’t necessary for its big twist to make sense. In the American version of the British sitcom series, Utkarsh Ambudkar portrays Jay, who lives with his wife, Rose McIver’s Samantha, in a historic mansion she inherited from a relative. The CBS series has been a hit in its first three seasons, and a twist announced for Ghosts season 4 could make it even better. At San Diego Comic-Con in July 2024, Ghosts teased a twist that would change the entire series.
The lore of the Ghosts universe established in seasons 1-3 provides an abundance of exciting narratives that can take form in season 4. Jay’s wife, Samantha, can see the ghosts in their house due to a near-death accident that has her knocking at death’s door. Her ability to interact with the dead makes for compelling and hilarious narratives, which are sure to continue in Ghosts season 4. Moving forward, however, the possibility of expanding Jay’s understanding of the spirits at Woodstone B&B would require a carefully crafted tale that wouldn’t require the show to kill the character.
