Ghosts Season 4, Episode 15 Emphasizes Sam’s Toxic Trait With 1 Unassuming Line (But She’s Changing)

While Sam (Rose McIver) has some personality issues in Ghosts, there is one that stands out the most. Her toxic leads to many issues within the house, whether for her personally or for Jay (Utkarsh Ambudkar) and his dreams in life. She is a meddler, but it seems like she is starting to learn when she should get involved and when she needs to take a step back from the comedic drama.

The majority of the spirits, especially the Main 8, have noticed that Sam likes to meddle in other people’s business. And, for the most part, they encourage her to get involved in situations — this has become their form of entertainment or their own personal gain. However, the most recent episode shows that Sam is slowly learning, and the recent Ghosts two-season renewal is an excellent way to further develop her character growth.

Alberta Points Out Sam’s Tendency To Be A Meddler In Ghosts Season 4, Episode 15
Even Alberta (Danielle Pinnock) is quick to point out in Ghosts season 4, episode 15 that Sam tends to meddle. During one scene, Alberta says to Sam: “Do that thing you do where you butt in where you’re not wanted, but this time, you’re actually wanted.” Alberta says it in such an excited way, knowing that usually, Sam would be just as excited to get involved.

While Jay has asked her to stop in the past, Sam views herself as doing a good thing, and that’s what makes this trait toxic.
Every time Sam has involved herself in someone else’s business, people were hurt or the B&B and restaurant was put at risk. However, Sam does enjoy some of the meddling, as she gets a chance to feel like part of a group. At the same time, she’s a people-pleaser, which leads to her wanting to help the spirits in the house as much as possible. While Jay has asked her to stop in the past, Sam views herself as doing a good thing, and that’s what makes this trait toxic.

Sam’s Meddling Tendencies Usually Backfires
There are numerous situations throughout the seasons of Sam getting involved in other people’s issues, and each time, the plan backfires. For instance, during Ghosts season 4, episode 10, Sam continues to work on Jay’s restaurant idea due to Isaac’s (Brandon Scott Jones) insistence on having all the say because he put the money into the restaurant. This almost leads to Mark (Tristan D. Lalla) walking out of doing the work, potentially ending Jay’s dream.

In another example, Sam tries to get Henry (Mark Linn-Baker) to back off Jay’s restaurant renovations, so the work can continue, but a conversation with Margaret (Kathryn Greenwood) causes her to kick Henry out of their house. Henry eventually learns that Sam is the reason; just as he is about to step back from Jay’s restaurant renovations, he starts to cause more problems because of Sam’s involvement in his marriage. If it wasn’t for Thorfinn (Devan Chandler Long) getting information about Henry forgetting his and Margaret’s anniversary, things could have gone terribly wrong for Sam and Jay in Ghosts.
