‘Ghosts’ Season 4: Here’s Why You’ll Have to Wait Until April for Its Return!

CBS is ghosting us. After delivering a game-changing episode last week, the network decided that it’s time for viewers to take a breather and watch some reruns. The good thing is, we will be able to check in at Woodstone Mansion again sooner rather than later: Ghosts is returning with new episodes on April 3, less than three weeks from now. However, CBS is staying mum on what happens next, having released no official synopsis nor a sneak peek of the upcoming episode of the series.

For now, it’s safe to say that the story of Ghosts has changed forever. Up until now, we believed that Hetty Woodstone (Rebecca Wisocky) didn’t have any special powers. But now, viewers discovered it was only a matter of timing: once a year, on St. Patrick’s Day, Hetty becomes visible to humans. This meant she could engage in a brief romance with Jay’s (Utkarsh Ambudkar) cousin Sunil (Asif Ali). What the romance and the discovery of her powers may cause in the long run, we will have to wait a little while to find out.

As Ghosts starts to approach its season finale, its schedule currently looks like this:

# Title Logline Release Date
15 “The Bachelorette Party” Alberta questions her descendant’s fiancé during a bachelorette party at Woodstone Mansion, while Jay celebrates a good review of his restaurant. March 6
16 “St. Hetty’s Day” Hetty’s ghost power is revealed when Jay’s cousin Sunil visits Woodstone Mansion on St. Patrick’s Day. March 13
17 TBA TBA April 3

There’s a Lot More ‘Ghosts’ Coming Our Way

Despite the short hiatus, there’s still a good number of Ghosts episodes for fans to enjoy. CBS hasn’t officially announced the episode count for Season 4, but chances are that the network sticks to the 22-episode run given the sitcom’s popularity. If that’s the case, when the show returns, fans will still have around six weeks to enjoy their favorite Thursday night comedy.

Ghosts is also not going anywhere anytime soon. Last month, CBS surprised fans by announcing that the series was picked up for not one, but two additional seasons — meaning that we can count on new episodes rolling out at least until 2027. We also know that we can get hyped up for the Season 4 finale: star and episode director Rose McIver (who plays Rose) spoke to Collider editor Samantha Coley and teased the general feel of the end of the season. She stated:

“I’ll give you one sentence that I read in the script that leapt out at me: ‘We see a who’s who of ghostdom.’ So we get a lot of familiar faces. There’s a lot of people coming out from all different sort of pockets of the house and the property, and it’s jam-packed.”

Fans of Ghosts who enjoy delving into other cultures won’t be left hanging either. The show — which originated from British television — has landed yet another version, this time in German, and it premiered this week. Additionally, the hit show also scored new versions in Australia and in France. So if you’re ok with subtitles, soon you will be able to get haunted in pretty much every language.

Ghosts returns to CBS on April 3.
