It’s finally happening! Jay will be able to see Ghosts next season on the hit CBS comedy.
The long-awaited storyline was revealed at the show’s San Diego Comic-Con panel this past Saturday, and when TVLine caught up with Jay’s portrayer, Utkarsh Ambudkar, he was extremely enthused to look his castmates in the eye.
“We are very excited to find out why and how Jay can see ghosts… None of us know how yet, but I cannot wait to be able to make eye contact with my co-workers,” Ambudkar tells TVLine’s Keisha Hatchett, not turning to face his co-star Rebecca Wisocky. “We’re so used to not looking at each other.”
One of the spirits that Jay might be able to come eye-to-eye with is new addition Patience (played by Mary Holland), a Puritan ghost who pulled Isaac into the dirt in the Season 3 finale. When the new season picks up, “we get to see exactly where she lives under Woodstone manner,” Wisocky previews, sharing that Hetty is “horrified” by what has happened to her friend Isaac.
Patience is “a wonderful new voice to add to the house of clowns, and it’s an interesting perspective,” Wisocky continues.
The intense newcomer will also offer up some competition in one particular department: “Hetty is used to being the most uptight stick in the mud, and Patience will definitely give her a run for her money,” Wisocky shares.
Elsewhere in the interview, Ambudkar and Wisocky preview the arrival of Jay’s parents in the Christmas special and Sam’s dad (guest star Dean Norris), and weigh in on whether there’s still some lingering sexual tension between Hetty and Trevor.
