Ghosts US Already Has A Perfect Crossover Method

For the Ghosts UK’s undead cast, any kind of appearance by their in-universe characters would be impossible to do, due to the UK series’ in-universe rules. With ghosts unable to leave the location where they died even if it wasn’t their home in life, it would be impossible to see any of the Button House ghosts make their way across the Atlantic to cross paths with their US counterparts. Nevertheless, Ghosts US has already seen one way to cross over the UK cast with the ongoing CBS series.

Not only is Baynton’s appearance a fun nod to the original series, but has a fun twist inspired by one of his character’s arcs

With Ghosts season 2, Matthew Baynton appeared as an actor involved in filming a recreation of Pete’s (Richie Moriarty) death, a scenario his UK version character Thomas Thorne had to grapple with in the BBC series’ first season when a regency drama about his in-life rival is being filmed at Button House. Not only is Baynton’s appearance a fun nod to the original series, but it has a fun twist inspired by one of his character’s arcs. As such, an appearance by Ritchie and Smith-Bynoe should perhaps also be a twist to their UK roles.

While no in-universe character returns may be in the cards, fans of both incarnations of Ghosts may be pleased to see that Port hopes to bring many of the cast members over for the US series. While casual viewers may overlook the cameos, it is a perfect way to subtly pay tribute to the UK series without needing to know both shows. And with Ghosts UK ending with season 5 in 2023, it may be easier to involve members of the UK cast in future seasons beyond season 4.
