In a new interview with the Daily Mail, White admitted that despite years of speculation, he hasn’t received any indication he’ll reprise his role:
“Not that I know of now. I kept my fingers crossed, but also, I’d be grateful if I got to do more and I’m grateful for what I got to do. I don’t want to be selfish. We got a lot of great mileage out of that show.”
White’s comments arrive nearly four years after 6666 was first announced in February 2021. The project, set on the historic Four Sixes Ranch in Texas — introduced in Yellowstone Season 4 — was expected to follow Jimmy’s new life after leaving the Dutton Ranch. Fans believed he and his fiancée Emily (Kathryn Kelly), who became engaged in the final season, might even co-lead the series.
Did Jefferson White Enjoy Working on Yellowstone?
Despite the uncertainty, White remains deeply grateful for the role that changed his life. He called being cast on the hit drama “a rare and lucky thing” and compared the opportunity to “winning the lottery.”
He also spoke highly of working alongside Kevin Costner, who played patriarch John Dutton:
“Meeting him, it always kind of lined up with the character on the show for me… John Dutton in that universe is kind of a legend. And to Jimmy, when he meets John Dutton, he’s like meeting a living legend. It always felt like that, meeting Kevin for me.”
White praised Costner’s commitment to the work, adding:
“When you’ve done it for that long, you can sort of start phoning it in if you really want to, and he never did. He really very authentically cared very much.”
Costner is currently facing legal allegations unrelated to Yellowstone, which he has denied. White noted he “hasn’t heard” anything about the case beyond public reporting.
Yellowstone is currently available to stream on Peacock in the United States. Stay tuned for updates on the future of the franchise.
