Opening up.
Bachelor Nation is getting to know Cheryl as she looks for love with Mel Owens on Season 2 of “The Golden Bachelor.”
Fans saw her get the first one-on-one of the season, where she got to dress up in a gorgeous gown and enjoy a romantic candlelit dinner aboard the Queen Mary.
Now, Cheryl is reflecting on her date with Mel on the “Bachelor Happy Hour” podcast and sharing why she got emotional while getting ready.
While recounting how it felt to get the first one-on-one date, she shared, “That was amazing, I had to look at that card twice and read the letters. Because I’m like, ‘That is me, that’s me!’ So I was really excited he felt maybe the chemistry that I was feeling and… I was so excited. I didn’t know exactly what it was going to be all about. I just knew that I got this first date and I was going to see Mel and I never would have imagined how.”
Cheryl went on, telling about her experience going on the date and getting ready with the other women in the house.
She said, “The date went amazing. I saw him walking out, I had somebody help me, the girls help me, with a few things. Oh, my gosh, it was incredible and I didn’t realize these were all gifts for me. And even the girls I chose were gifts to me. Those are the girls that came to mind and they are amazing girls, oh, my gosh… I was so grateful.”
Cheryl also revealed her older sister used to dress her up when they were younger, which is partly why she got so emotional while getting ready for the date.
“You know when I was young, I had an older sister so she always wanted to dress me,” she said. “She dressed me when we went out and she’d go, ‘Yeah, you look good in this,’ and she knew how to dress me up. I just kind of liked that. So here I am with these beautiful gowns coming from Italy and New York and I was overwhelmed. I did get emotional, I’ll admit. And I needed my sister Rachel. I needed my sister.”
The Bachelor Nation star then explained the feeling behind her emotions and whether they were happy or sad tears.
She expressed, “It was happy as could be. So when I’m really happy, sometimes I’ll get really emotional and I get that way. Some people do; I’m one of those girls. I just felt like I was a princess. I was in a storybook and this couldn’t be happening to me, and it did!”
