Goodbye Booth, Hello Battlefield: Boreanaz Takes Command in New Military Drama

Fox’s long-running series Bones is coming to an end next week, and David Boreanaz has already lined up his next project. After 12 seasons playing an FBI agent, Boreanaz will play a Navy SEAL in a new CBS drama pilot, EW has confirmed.

Boreanaz replaces Jim Caviezel, who left the project due to creative differences, and will play Jason, the leader of a Navy SEAL strike team with scars both inside and out. The untitled project will star Max

Thierot (Bates Motel) as Clay, a self-assured millennial with plenty of insecurities; Neil Brown Jr. (Straight Outta Compton) as Ray, Jason’s most trusted friend and colleague; A.J.

Buckley (Justified) plays Sonny, a self-destructive but loyal fighter; Toni Trucks (Franklin & Bash) plays Diaz, the team’s logistics officer; and Jessica Paré (Mad Men) plays Mandy, a highly intelligent CIA analyst.

If the show is adapted into a series, Ed Redlich (Unforgettable, Without a Trace) will be the showrunner. The first episode will be directed by veteran director Chris Chulack (ER and Shameless) and written by Ben Cavell, known for his work on Sneaky Pete, Homeland, and Justified.

Sarah Timberman and Carl Beverley will also serve as executive producers.
