Following the release of Netflix’s ‘Being Gordon Ramsay’, fans are turning their attention to one of the chef’s favourite UK holiday destinations… Cornwall.
In the documentary – which has proved popular with viewers – Ramsay reveals that he spends time holidaying in Cornwall, and fans have been quick to follow in his footsteps.
Google searches for “Gordon Ramsay Cornwall” have skyrocketed by 18,750% in the past week alone.
Interest in the location of the chef’s stays while in Cornwall has also risen sharply, with Google searches for ‘Rock’, a coastal fishing village opposite Padstow, increasing by 67% over the same period.
In response to this surge in demand, holidaylodges.co.uk has revealed why Cornwall remains one of the UK’s most desirable places to escape to in the UK, and provided a selection of lodge stays in the area.
Gordon Ramsay buys house in Cornwall
Earlier this week, The Sun reported that Ramsay splashed out on a new home in Cornwall, reported to be worth £9.65 million.
The 59-year-old is said to have now purchased the “most expensive property” in the coastal village of Rock – where he already owns a home and previously clashed with neighbours.
At the time, more than 20 neighbours objected to his plans for his original property and branded it a “monstrosity”.
This prompted Gordon to respond in an interview back in 2022, saying: “I absolutely love Cornwall. It’s just the Cornish I can’t stand.”
It is not clear whether he will sell his latest £9.65m purchase means he will sell his former property of if he will keep both.
Why are celebrities flocking to Cornwall?
Ramsay is not the only star drawn to the Duchy’s charm, as Cornwall has long been a favourite getaway for a host of high-profile names, including Stanley Tucci, Kate Winslet, and Chris Martin.
Drawn by the privacy, scenery, and slower pace of life, the county has quietly earned a reputation as one of the UK’s most celebrity-loved destinations for switching off and escaping the spotlight.
Speaking amid soaring interest again thanks to the new Netfix show, Inday Harrison, regional expert for Cornwall, said: “With its dramatic coastal landscapes, wide open beaches, and fresh sea air, Cornwall is the perfect place for a little escapism. From rugged coastal walks and hidden coves to relaxed pub lunches overlooking the sea, Cornwall offers a rare blend of simplicity and indulgence.
“It’s easy to see why Gordon Ramsay returns year after year, and why so many people are now craving their own Cornish retreat.”
