Gordon Ramsay Trains for Ironman Triathlon 10 Months After ‘Brutal’ Bike Accident That Left His Ribs Heavily Bruised

The ‘MasterChef’ star’s coach shared a video showing his rigorous regimen of swimming, cycling and running

Gordon Ramsay is gearing up for a grueling competition — and it’s not in the kitchen.

On Thursday, April 24, the culinary star shared a video originally posted by his coach, Chris Dominey, which featured footage of his training for the Ironman Triathlon.

“Chef Mode OFF,” reads text over the video, which shows clips of Ramsay swimming, cycling both outdoors and indoors and running. “IRONMAN mode ON.”

“No shortcuts. No excuses. Just sweat, sea, coastlines and serious grind,” Dominey captioned the post.

Fans cheered him on in the video’s comments, calling his hard work “inspirational” and urging him to “keep crushing!!”

Ramsay takes on the rigorous regimen just 10 months after a serious biking accident in Connecticut last June that left his ribs heavily bruised.

“Honestly, I’m lucky to be here,” the MasterChef star, 58, wrote on Instagram following the accident.

“I’m in pain. It’s been a brutal week,” he added while lifting up his jacket to reveal the bruising. “And I’m sort of getting through it. But I cannot tell you the importance of wearing a helmet.”

Ramsay added that though he did not “break any bones or suffer any major injuries,” he was “a bit bruised up looking like a purple potato.”

One month later, the celebrity chef was back on his bike.

In July 2024, Ramsay shared videos on Instagram of him going for a ride with his son Oscar, now 6.

The TV chef revealed his injuries had “healed” in an Instagram post reflecting on the end of the year in December.

“What an incredible 2024! Have a Happy New Year (and yes the bruise has healed) Gx,” he wrote.

Ramsay has had a passion for cycling and competing in Ironman races for several years. In 2018, he said, per The Daily Mail, that he began focusing on fitness to “get in serious shape.”

“The more I train, the more normal I am, the more I feel that I’m still unchanged. It’s just another little reminder of who I really am,” he said.
