News of Daytime Emmy winner Greg Vaughan joining the hit CBS soap Beyond the Gates sparked concern among Days of Our Lives fans, who worried the move meant the end of his longtime role as Eric Brady on Peacock’s daytime drama. Vaughan has now addressed that possibility, sharing his thoughts on whether he might return to the iconic role.

In a recent interview with TV Insider discussing his move to Beyond the Gates, Vaughan addressed whether he could return to Days of Our Lives. When asked about the possibility he shared simply, “I’m open.”

Vaughan also clarified to the outlet that his role on Beyond the Gates is, currently, recurring rather than contract. “I’m not on contract,” he noted.

Still, Vaughan expressed enthusiasm for his new soap home, telling TV Insider, “But after day two here, it already felt like a new home, a place of being embraced.”

Vaughan will make his Beyond the Gates debut on December 8, 2025 portraying Kial Rollins, an orthopedic surgeon who is the widowed father of two sons.

Who Is Greg Vaughan?

Vaughan began his professional acting career in 1996, appearing first in episodes of Baywatch and Malibu Shores before landing the role of firefighter Cliff Yeager on Beverly Hills 90210.

The actor made his daytime television debut in 2002 as Diego Guttierez on the CBS soap opera The Young and the Restless before joining the cast of General Hospital as legacy character Lucky Spencer, son of Daytime royalty Luke (Tony Geary) and Laura Spencer (Genie Francis) in 2003.

On Days of Our Lives he portrayed the character Eric Brady, son of Roman (Josh Taylor) and Marlena (Deidre Hall) on the Peacock series Days of Our Lives, since 2012. Vaughan most recently appeared on the soap in November of 2025 to honor the series 60th anniversary.

For his portrayal of Eric Brady, the actor won a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series in 2018.
