Greg Vaughan Shares Memories With Kelly Monaco After Her General Hospital Firing
After the news of General Hospital’s Kelly Monaco being fired from the soap she’s called home for over two decades, former co-star Greg Vaughan is speaking out about the actress.
Standing With Kelly
Monaco first entered the world of Port Charles in the spin-off titled Port Charles, where she played the roles of Tess and Livvie. After the show’s cancellation, she was cast as GH’s Sam, a character she’s played for 21 years.

News broke about Monaco’s firing last month, prompting outrage from her supporters, who began the #IStandWithKelly campaign. The group of fans not only bought a Times Square billboard in support of the actress, but have now heard from one of her beloved former co-stars.
Admiration And Appreciation
In a Cameo video posted by the #IStandWithKelly campaign, Greg Vaughan (ex-Lucky, GH, Eric, Days of our Lives) was asked to share some of his favorite memories from working with Monaco on GH.
Vaughan portrayed Lucky when the character was in a relationship with Sam (Monaco), cheated with Maxie (Kirsten Storms), and dealt with a drug addiction. “Just reaching out to just share a little bit about my great admiration and appreciation for, not just you, the fans, but for Kelly Monaco,” Vaughan began the nearly 3-minute video. “A near and dear friend to me and a former incredible co-star I had the pleasure of sharing some wonderful time with and making great memories at General Hospital.”
Vaughan went on to share memories on set, including the time Lucky and Sam went camping together. “I think one of my most fun, most memorable – that I don’t think either of us stopped laughing – was our camping adventure,” he began. “With the spider, the gun, the just trying to figure out, which is complete polar opposite of who I am,” he continued. “Kelly always made it fun.”
The actor also reminisced about the old fan event Super Soap Weekend. “Some of my favorite moments with Kelly – not just personally, you know – in our adventures as friends and castmates to all those Super Soap Weekends. We had an incredible, incredible time.”
