Guess Who’s Back on Chicago Med? Yes, It’s the Character You’ve Been Waiting For!

Chicago Med Season 10 saw the return of a character fans never thought they would see again: Nurse Jackie, also known as Maggie’s ED coworker who had one heck of a guest arc.

What happened with Nurse Jackie on Chicago Med?

Nurse Jackie, played by Natalie Zea, originally appeared in Chicago Med Season 9 as a nurse who briefly interacted with nurse Maggie Lockwood while working in the ED of Gaffney Chicago Medical Center. The storyline revolved around Maggie’s concern over Jackie after noticing cuts on her arms, which she suspected was from abuse. Dr. Daniel Charles, however, later determined that Jackie had been harming herself.

The episode continued with Maggie finding Jackie in a bathroom before she passed out from self-harm wounds. Maggie told Charles about the incident, which led him to put Jackie on a 72-hour psych hold when she tried returning to work at the hospital as if nothing had happened.

Jackie returned to Chicago Med in Season 10, Episode 4, “Blurred Lines,” when Maggie arrived at Gaffney Chicago Medical Center to onboard a new nurse transfer and was surprised to see Jackie was her new nurse. “It’s not lost on me that this could be weird for you,” Jackie said. Later in the episode, Jackie saw Charles in the hospital and apologized for how she treated him in the previous season. “I owe you an apology for my colorful word choice the last time I saw you,” Jackie told Charles, who responded, “If memory serves, ‘condescending prick’ was a highlight.”
Toward the end of the episode, Jackie asked Maggie if it was weird for them to work together given their past. “Is me working in the E.D. going to be a problem for you?” Jackie asked Maggie, who responded, “Jackie, it’s your first day back. I just need to make sure that you’re-“

“Stable?” Jackie asked, to which Maggie clarified, “No. Acclimated.” Jackie replied, “You know, so much of this job is seeing people through the worst day of their life. After what I just went through, I have never been better equipped to do that. But if you don’t trust me with the patients, say so.”

Chicago Med is available to stream on Peacock.
