Page starred as Simon Basset, the Duke of Hastings while Thompson plays Benedict Bridgerton
Bridgerton star Luke Thompson is reflecting on his early days on the hit Netflix series and revealing how impressed he was by Rege-Jean Page’s commitment to his breakout role in Season 1.
Thompson, who is set to lead the upcoming fourth season as Benedict Bridgerton, said Page’s approach stood out to him from the very beginning.
Looking back on the show’s debut season, Thompson said he was “struck by how seriously Page took his role,” even though Bridgerton balances romance and drama with a playful, escapist tone.
Page starred as Simon Basset, the Duke of Hastings, whose intense emotional arc helped launch the series into a global phenomenon.

Thompson noted that each of the show’s leading men has brought a distinct energy to their season in the spotlight. He described Jonathan Bailey, who led Season 2, as “a firework” on set, while Luke Newton, the Season 3 lead, brought a more thoughtful and sensitive presence to his performance.
Rather than seeking advice from his predecessors, Thompson said he chose to carve out his own path as the next leading man. He explained that the individuality each actor brings to their role is part of what keeps Bridgerton fresh and engaging from season to season.
With Season 4 set to debut in 2026, fans are eager to see Thompson take center stage in the next chapter of the Bridgerton family’s romantic saga.
