The final season of SEAL Team is fast approaching, which means Paramount+ subscribers will soon be able to enjoy the show’s final episodes. Saying goodbye to the military-focused show may be difficult for some fans, but there’s a lot to look forward to in Season 7. That’s especially true after the thrilling conclusion of Season 6, when Bravo and several other SEALs came clean about their injuries and illnesses. Another thing fans are hoping to see is a budding romance between Sonny and Davis, but it may not be that easy.
Since the series began, it’s been clear that something is brewing between A.J. Buckley’s Sonny Quinn and Toni Trucks’ Lisa Davis. They’ve had a pretty complicated relationship over the past few seasons, and fans are more than ever wanting them to finally get their happy ending. Speaking to TV Insider, Trucks admitted that she knows viewers want the two characters to be together, but when Season 7 begins, they won’t actually be lovers:
[They’re] in a place where they’re deeply attached but platonic. And of course, we’re not going to disappoint the fans by taking them on a rollercoaster ride.
Of course, it’s clear that Sonny and Davis care about each other and share an attraction, but there are too many obstacles standing in the way of a real romance between them. While it’s bound to happen since this is the finale, it seems like fans may have to wait a little bit until the end of the season for that to happen. There’s a good reason why they haven’t officially gotten together yet, as Toni Trucks shared:
It’s been hard for them.
They’re like moths to a flame. But it comes back to [the balance] of duty and loyalty, right? Davis would want nothing more than to be with Sonny, and I think the opposite. But Sonny couldn’t think of anything else to do but be at Bravo. And Davis could never think of lying so deeply about her job to create a romance. That would be too personal. That would be taking care of herself in a way that she can’t.
That’s not to say that love can’t happen for them at all, but of course there are other plot lines that need to be addressed. Bravo has been through a lot in the last few seasons, most notably the tragic and shocking loss of Clay Spenser, which hit Sonny and the rest of the gang pretty hard. There’s also no telling what the fallout will be from the earth-shattering confession made in the finale. But beyond all that, Davis and Sonny will still have some fun between their high-stakes missions, as the trailer teased a very sweet moment between them. Check it out:
A dance scene between Sonny and Davis would be enough to get fans excited about a potential romance in the final season. Of course, there’s no specific context for that scene or exactly how it plays out. Unfortunately, Toni Trucks couldn’t say much about it, though she did reveal a bit:
It’s a moment that will definitely leave them and the audience wanting more.
As one of the many shows ending or being canceled in 2024, SEAL Team will have a few subplots to wrap up. It sounds like there will be some Sonny and Davis moments that fans will want to keep an eye out for. And hopefully, some of those moments will only solidify their romantic relationship as more than just a friendship. Season 7 is likely to be an emotional finale, and it will be both entertaining and intriguing to see what happens to Sonny, Davis, and the rest of Bravo. The season premiere will premiere Sunday, August 11 on Paramount+ in the 2024 TV schedule.
