For Hero Fiennes Tiffin, saying goodbye to Hardin Scott was more than just wrapping a role; it was closing the book on a character who had grown alongside him for nearly half a decade. In After Everything, audiences witness a version of Hardin they’ve never seen before — one who understands that letting go can be the truest act of love.
“I had to let her go to truly love her,” Fiennes Tiffin said, echoing Hardin’s own emotional revelation in the film. “For so long, Hardin was driven by fear — fear of losing Tessa, fear of being alone. But by the end, he realizes that holding on too tightly can break what you’re trying to save.”
The film’s final scenes see Hardin standing apart from Tessa, watching her walk into a new chapter of her life. It’s not a grand gesture or a dramatic chase — it’s quiet, restrained, and deeply human. “We didn’t want it to feel like Hollywood fantasy,” Fiennes Tiffin explained. “This was about growth, about showing that sometimes the right thing for someone you love is to let them be free.”
Filming those moments required a subtle shift in performance. “Hardin’s always been so intense, so charged,” the actor said. “But here, it’s about stillness. About holding all that emotion inside and showing it in just a look, a breath.”
Reflecting on his time with the After series, Fiennes Tiffin admitted that Hardin’s arc has been a personal journey, too. “I’ve learned so much about patience, about communication, about vulnerability. Playing Hardin forced me to explore parts of myself I might not have otherwise.”
The final chapter may not have given fans the fairy-tale ending they expected, but for Fiennes Tiffin, it’s the one the story needed. “It’s not about losing love,” he said. “It’s about redefining it. And sometimes, love means stepping aside so someone else can shine.”
