She believes in fair play and is genuinely shocked when others don’t have the same values and beliefs as her.

Though Pat sometimes makes comments that may come off as unkind or passive-aggressive, she always believes she is acting in the best interest of all and does not want those around her to suffer. For all of these reasons and more, Pat is a Hufflepuff.

Like many other Gryffindors, Hank can be explosive and confrontational. His boldness and nerve would definitely land him in this house.

Gianni: Slytherin

Gianni and Raymond were friends for years, dating back to Ray’s time working as a futon salesman. Gianni eventually decides to leave this job and open up his own business as a contractor. Ray makes the mistake of hiring Gianni to work on his kitchen which he eventually comes to regret. Gianni cuts a lot of corners to get the job done, doing poor work in the kitchen.

Throughout the job, Gianni is able to manipulate Ray, much to Debra’s chagrin. When Ray finally decides to put his foot down, Gianni isn’t having it. He is even willing to risk his friendship with Ray in the interest of his own self-preservation. This interaction shows us that Gianni is cunning, willing to do anything for success, and values himself above all. This make it clear that Gianni belongs in Slytherin house.

Andy is Ray’s friend who also becomes a news-writer at Newsday. Andy is very intelligent. When he first begins working alongside Ray, he is eager to get his approval and struggles with accepting criticism. He is extremely witty and creative and wants to be valued for these traits. This would land Andy a place in Ravenclaw.

Amy: Hufflepuff

Amy is primarily defined by her relationships with other characters. She longs to be accepted and spends a great deal of time trying to cheer up those around her. Amy is very forgiving – which is demonstrated through her on and off-again relationship with Robert and her relationships with Marie.

All things considered, she is very patient with the Barone family. Amy is also very dedicated and loyal to those she cares about. This causes some internal conflict as her family doesn’t get along with Robert’s family. For all of these reasons and many more, it is clear that Amy is a Hufflepuff.

Frank: Gryffindor

When describing Frank, the first word that comes to mind is bold. This character has a nerve and often says what he’s thinking without thinking about the consequences of his word choice. He can sometimes come off as a bit harsh when engaging with his family, but he cares about them deeply.

Frank is also brave. Though he doesn’t often get the change to show this bravery on the show, it is known that Frank is a retired police officer with a military past. He also possesses the famous Gryffindor temper, checking off almost every trait on this house’s list.

Marie: Slytherin

Marie is the matriarch of the family and she loves holding this position of power. She uses her position of power to meddle in everyone else’s lives. Marie doesn’t wait for permission, she takes charge. She is often criticized for being shrewd because she is so achievement-oriented and pushes those around her.

Marie also thinks very highly of herself. She can’t handle being criticized and self-preservation is extremely important to her. With her ambition and cunning ability to manipulate those around her, Marie would thrive in Slytherin.

Robert: Hufflepuff

All Robert wants is to be accepted, valued, and loved. He constantly feels under-appreciated and overlooked which further drives his desire to be acknowledged. Robert is hardworking and often expresses frustration that his career is overshadowed by Ray’s.

Although he sometimes feels rejected, Robert still values his family and stands up for them and supports them at all times. His core values include fairness and loyalty, making him a Hufflepuff.

Debra: Gryffindor

Debra is the only person who is bold and brave enough to stand up to Marie. She is quick to speak her mind and is often frustrated by Ray’s inability to stand up for himself. She doesn’t understand why those around her don’t possess her nerve and courage and tries to recruit others to her causes.

Debra never waits to be saved. She takes matters into her own hand, springing into action. One example of this is when Frank’s friends are talking about her body behind her back. Another example is during the fire in the kitchen when she quickly springs into action and puts out the fire. Debra is also reckless and tempered. She has somewhat traditional values and is offended when people don’t subscribe to her moral code. All of these traits prove that Debra is the best and the worst of Gryffindor.

Ray: Ravenclaw

While Ray may not be the stereotypical Ravenclaw that comes to mind, his intelligence can’t be overlooked. Ray is witty and intelligent. His job as a writer allows him to demonstrate his strong command of the English language. He is valued writer and his skill positions him to provide feedback to other writers.

Ray expresses his creativity both through his career and through his crazy schemes which often blow up in his face. These creative schemes often involved “the dumb husband routine” and he even drags Robert into his schemes by encouraging him to botch his wedding invitations. Raymond is also extremely quirky, adding another staple feature of those who belong to Ravenclaw’s house to the list of reasons for his placement.
