A new image has been released from House of the Dragon season 2, and it features Aemond Targaryen plotting against his family with Criston Cole.
House of the Dragon season 2 gets a new image showing Aemond making dastardly plans against his own family. Based on Fire & Blood by George R.R. Martin, House of the Dragon first aired in 2022, chronicling the onset of civil war among members of the Targaryen family. The series, which was a hit with audiences and critics, is set to return for season 2 this summer, with the conflict poised to reach new levels of intensity.
Following the release of the House of the Dragon season 2 trailer, the official House of the Dragon Instagram account now shares a new image from the upcoming season. Check it out below:
The image features Ewan Mitchell as Aemond Targaryen and Fabien Frankel as Ser Criston Cole, with the two shown plotting over a map of Westeros. Accompanying the image, the account includes the caption: “Challenging kin.”
Who Are The Greens & The Blacks?
The House of the Dragon season 1 finale sees Vhagar, Prince Aemond’s dragon, eating Lucerys (Elliot Grihault) mid-flight. The final shot of the show’s debut season is of Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy) as she exhibits the fury and pain that the loss of her son has caused. With the battle lines now clearly drawn, this sets up an even more action-packed season 2 as two factions battle for what they believe to be rightful claims to the Iron Throne.
As reflected in House of the Dragon season 2’s dual trailers, the central conflict of the show has now boiled down to the Greens versus the Blacks. Alicent (Olivia Cooke) and King Aegon Targaryen (Tom Glynn-Carney) lead the Greens, with Prince Aemond also belonging to this faction. As the events of season 1 and the latest image attest, Ser Criston, the Lord Commander of the Kingsguard, is also firmly on the side of the Greens, as is Rhys Ifans’ Otto Hightower.
The Blacks, on the other hand, include the members of the House of the Dragon cast of characters who are loyal to Rhaenyra, the rightful heir to the Iron Throne, and Prince Jacaerys Velaryon (Harry Collett). Matt Smith’s Prince Daemon is aligned with the Blacks, and it’s this side that also sports the superior dragon power. House of the Dragon season 2 is still several months away, but it’s shaping up to be an even more violent and intense season as two opposing forces continue to clash.
