What To Expect From House Of The Dragon Season 2
The upcoming batch of episodes for the Game of Thrones spinoff show will seemingly pick up where things left off. The season 1 finale ends with Rhaenyra distracted over the murder of her son, Luke (Elliot Grihault), by Alicent’s son, Aemond (Ewan Mitchell). Repurcussions will surely be swift, and it’s looking season 2 will have higher stakes and potentially more action as the former friendship between Rhaenyra and Alicent further deteriorates into a bitter and bloody conflict.
Another change that’s on the way for House of the Dragon’s sophomore outing involves its episode count. While season 1, like the first 6 seasons of Game of Thrones, features 10 episodes, season 2 will only feature 8. This seemingly stems from creative and storytelling considerations, however, with HBO already eying a larger arc that extends to season 3, season 4, and maybe even beyond.
As far as the House of the Dragon season 2 cast, the show is expected to feature a combination of familiar faces and newcomers. In addition to Cooke and D’Arcy, returning actors will include Matt Smith as Daemon Targaryen, Rhys Ifans as Otto Hightower, Eve Best as Rhaenys Targaryen, Steve Toussaint as Corlys Velaryon, Matthew Needham as Larys Strong, and Fabien Frankel as Ser Criston Cole . New to the cast of season 2 are Gayle Rankin as Alys Rivers, Simon Russell Beale as Ser Simon Strong, and Freddie Fox as Gwayne Hightower, among others.
