House Of The Dragon Season 2 Trailer Teases First Dragon Vs Dragon Battles As War Breaks Out
Well ahead of its 2024 debut, HBO unveils the first trailer for House of the Dragon season 2, which continues the story of the Targaryen civil war.
HBO reveals the first trailer for House of the Dragon season 2. Set to debut sometime in the summer of 2024, the Game of Thrones prequel is expected to pick up right where season 1 left off. The new warring factions of Westeros, the Blacks and the Greens, are entering another phase of their increasingly bloody battle for dominance.
At a special panel at Brazil’s CCXP, Max released the first trailer for House of the Dragon season 2. Check it out below:
In the trailer, Otto Hightower and Allicent Hightower consider their mistakes and ponder just what Westeros will look like after the war is over. Queen Rhaenyra, meanwhile, is filled with rage and preparing to ascend the Iron Throne. The force rallying against the war, Rhaenys Targaryen cites the anger of the gods and the wrath of dragons, but footage of Rhaenyra and Aemond on dragonback indicates that war is coming all the same.
What Else Does The House Of The Dragon Season 2 Trailer Reveal?
After the death of Lucerys during the House of the Dragon season 1 ending, Rhaenyra was filled with a vengeful rage. King Aegon has taken the throne, Daemon is seeking support from new dragons, and Aemond now understands that dragons are impossible to truly tame. The season 1 finale promised fire and blood, and now the season 2 trailer proves that it will be delivering on its promises.
Some footage features armies carrying Hightower banners as they march off to war while other Houses rally alongside them. It is not clear if the other Houses will be fighting for or against the Aegon and the Hightowers. The knights and soldiers are not alone, as dragons appear regularly throughout the trailer with riders clinging to their saddles. In one clip, a dragon is seemingly attacking an army with the siege equipment being burned to cinders.
One constant element of the trailer is discussions of fire and death. Rhaenys warns that the gods frown upon kin going to war, but her warnings have gone unheeded. At the end of the trailer, HBO promises a summer 2024 release, which is in line with previous commitments to release by that date. The House of the Dragon season 2 trailer is filled with war and death, and more devastation appears to be on the horizon.
