House Of The Dragon Season 3 Gets Confident Update From Game Of Thrones Author
House of the Dragon season 3 receives a confidant update from Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin, who reveals plans for the show.
Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin has offered a confidant update for House of the Dragon season 3, indicating a positive future for the series. The prequel show follows House Targaryen during the Dance of the Dragons, a civil war across all of Westeros. Season 1 premiered in 2022 to critical success, with season 2 now slated to arrive in summer 2024.
Speaking with BANGCAST, Martin revealed that, while House of the Dragon season 2 has only recently finished filming, plans for season 3 are already coming together.
His statement indicates confidence the series will continue to tell the full story of the Targaryen civil war. Check out what Martin had to say below:
We have the new show, House of the Dragon, which has just finished filming its second season, and we’re going to be planning for the third season soon.
How Many Seasons Will House Of The Dragon Have?
House of the Dragon season 1 ended with Rhaenyra Targaryen’s son, Lucerys Velaryon, being killed by Aemond Targaryen and Vhagar. The season finale ends with Rhaenyra grieving and furious, setting the stage for the Dance of the Dragons to begin in season 2. Because the civil war is only just starting, the series will no doubt need multiple seasons in order to cover the many events that sweats during the conflict.
In May 2023, HBO Drama Chief Francesca Orsi indicated the series could run through season 4 or longer to complete its story. This means that, while season 3 is currently in its planning stages, House of the Dragon could have new episodes for many more years to come. Every season will no doubt continue escalating the war in Westeros, leading up to its brutal, bloody ending.
With plenty of exciting events in House of the Dragon season 2 being set up, the show has hinted at a story that will be both politically engaging and action-packed. The balance of both Targaryen war strategies and the execution of said plans will make for an interesting start to the civil war. And, with Martin now confident about the fate of season 3, it seems this battle will continue for a very long time.
