Edith turned age 50 in the two part , October 16th & 23rd, 1977 episode of All In The Family.
Meaning , when the show began (January 1971) the Edith character was already 43.
So, going by the birthday episode date, she would have been born October 16th, 1927
^ Just to add, in a January 12th, 1974 episode , Archie Bunker turns 50, meaning he was born on that date in 1924.
This separates he and Edith in age, by 3 years, 9 months and 4 days.
Making Edith ages 43 to 52 during AITF and into Season 1 of “Archie Bunker’s Place”. (Archie was 59 by show’s end in 1983.)

Sad thing about Edith’s birthday episode, it’s the 2 part show where a man , posing as a Police Detective, gets in the home and attempts to rape her.😔
She gets away before anything can happen though. (Sorry , no pic.’s…I’d rather not for this episode.)
So, as most know, Jean Stapleton left (Archie Bunker’s Place) after the 1979 – 1980 season wrapped.
Her character was written out as having passed away over the summer of 1980. Poor Edith was only 52 ( & maybe 8 months.)
(Archie mourns Edith in the season opener, “Archie Alone” – November 2nd, 1980.)
…but, there was an Actor’s strike in Hollywood from Spring to very late Summer that year :
Delaying the filming / taping of TV shows and movies. ( ^ Above, Charlton Heston talks to the press about the strike.)
“Archie B.P.” was in reruns from April to November (7 months), then the ‘80 – ‘81 season finally got going.
It came as a complete surprise to me about Edith, as I’d not heard about Jean leaving, I wept during that episode.
But, like Jean said to Norman Lear about ending Edith, “She’s just fiction”.
That made it no less sad to watch…and still is. 😢
