Tim Allen is one of Hollywood’s most iconic comedians and resident funny man, who became a big name thanks to his roles in Toy Story and Home Improvement. Home Improvement in particular lasted for eight seasons on ABC in the ‘90s and captured the hearts of many.
Fans of the beloved sitcom Home Improvement were thrilled when Tim Allen hinted at plans for a reunion or revival of the series. However, those hopes have been dashed as such plans are no longer in the works. Despite this setback, Allen’s third opportunity with a sitcom has emerged as his saving grace.
Home Improvement Reboot Will Not Be Happening
In case you didn’t know, Tim Allen and Patricia Richardson portrayed the roles of husband and wife, Timothy “Tim” Taylor and Jillian “Jill” Taylor, respectively, on all eight seasons of Home Improvement. In a 2023 interview with EW, Allen expressed his desire to revive the series and revealed that he had discussed the possibility with his fellow cast members.
However, during a recent appearance on the Back To The Best podcast, Richardson revealed that she had not been contacted regarding the supposed revival. Unsurprisingly, Richardson expressed confusion over the public comments made by Tim Allen regarding the potential revival of the sitcom.
Tim Allen Is Getting His Third Chance At A Sitcom
Tim Allen has been absent from network TV for a few years since the conclusion of his ABC/Fox sitcom Last Man Standing. That being said, ABC has ordered a pilot for a brand-new show called Shifting Gears, where the 70-year-old actor will portray a widow and classic car shop owner
While many headline sitcom stars have had the chance to one successful comedy, getting multiple smash hits under their belt is unheard of. While speaking to ET, the former tool man made it clear he is very excited for the role, as it will be his third chance at a major sitcom.
