I’m Disappointed That Jensen Ackles Might Not Have a Big Role in Tracker Season 2 After This Story Promise
I’m disappointed that Jensen Ackles might not have a bigger role in the upcoming season of Tracker, especially after his storyline was promised to continue. After the end of Tracker Season 1, a reunion between the Shaw brothers was one of the things I thought needed to happen in Tracker Season 2. Jensen Ackles plays the older brother, Russell Shaw, and Justin Hartley plays the younger brother, Colter Shaw. The actors have on-screen chemistry that makes them believable as brothers, which is just one of the reasons why Jensen Ackles returning to the show in a bigger role would be great.

In Tracker Season 1, Russell Shaw was a fan favorite since Jensen Ackles first appeared on screen, but he was one of the most questionable characters on Tracker before that. I think it’s crucial to the show’s plot that they chose to wait until the penultimate episode of season 1, episode 12, “Off the Books” to introduce Jensen. With Ackles working alongside the bounty hunter, it’s clear that he’s someone Colter can trust going into season 2 of Tracker. It would certainly hurt the balance of the show if Ackles wasn’t able to appear. It seems like Russell would be one of Colter’s greatest allies in season 2 of Tracker, making it all the more disappointing that Ackles won’t be returning. Hartley has promised that major characters from season 1 of Tracker will be welcomed back to the show, including Colter’s and Ackles’ families. Hartley said that characters like family friend Lizzy Hawking (Jennifer Morrison) and Colter’s siblings “will definitely be back” in season 2 of Tracker. I think it’s important that they all do so because they help tell Colter’s story even though he’s working alone.

While Hartley reuniting with This Is Us co-star Jennifer Morrison is important as the mystery continues to unfold around Ashton Shaw’s mysterious death, Colter reuniting with his brother is equally important to the story of Tracker season 2. Jensen Ackles’ Russell would be great for season 2 because the end of season 1 set up Tracker season 2 to continue unraveling the mystery of Colter’s father. Perhaps no one is better placed to support the revenant than his brother, who is likely wrongly accused of killing his father.
