Fire Country season 3 will likely consist of around 22 episodes and premiere on Friday, October 18, 2024, at 9 p.m. ET on CBS.
Fire Country, created by Max Thieriot, Tony Phelan, and Joan Rater, revolves around Thieriot’s Bode, a convict with a troubled past who volunteers for Cal Fire to reduce his prison sentence. In doing so, Bode is reunited with his family and old friends in his hometown in Northern California. He also meets Gabriela, a Cal Fire firefighter and paramedic who happens to be the fire captain’s daughter. Bode and Gabriela’s chemistry is instantaneous and undeniable. However, multiple factors (including their own choices and decisions) frequently keep them apart, and I, personally, am over Bode and Gabriela’s story in Fire Country.
Bode & Gabriela’s Fire Country Romance Is Now More Annoying Than Compelling
At first, the tension between Bode and Gabriela and the will-they/won’t-they aspect of their relationship in Fire Country was fun. Now, not so much. The back and forth between Bode and Gabriela has grown to be more annoying than exciting. Unfortunately, it appears as if the couple’s drama will continue when Fire Country season 3 premieres, as teased in the CBS action drama’s first trailer for the upcoming episodes. Bode and Gabriela’s romance seemingly isn’t over yet, much to my dismay.
As seen (and heard) in the Fire Country season 3 trailer, Gabriela asks Bode why he left her wedding (and she sounds hurt by the fact that he did so). Later in the video, Bode states, “This is a new beginning for both of us,” assumingly referring to him and Gabriela. The next scene shows Bode and Gabriela in bed together, previewing their evidential reconciliation (given that it’s reality and not a dream sequence).
I hope, though, that the steamy scene in the trailer is a dream bcause Bode and Gabriela have proven multiple times why they shouldn’t be together. Fire Country really can’t introduce anything new to the couple’s story, and it’s hard to believe that Bode and Gabriela’s immaturity and stupidity regarding their relationship will change overnight. Perhaps they need to grow apart as individuals before they can grow together. But for now, Bode needs to move on from Gabriela after her wedding in Fire Country season 3 (even if it doesn’t happen).
Diego’s Potential Fire Country Season 3 Death Makes Gabriela & Bode’s Romance More Difficult To Accept
It’s one of the biggest clichés in the book — a TV show wants to push two characters together (romantically), but one of them is already in a relationship, so they kill off the other love interest so that the two can be together. Hopefully, that is not what is going to happen with the Bode, Gabriela, and Diego love triangle in Fire Country. However, the upcoming season’s first teaser trailer doesn’t elicit much confidence that Diego will survive the premiere.
The Fire Country writers still need to put in the work regarding Bode and Gabriela’s individual growth before I can accept them as an endgame couple.
However, the most upsetting part of the video is that Diego is nowhere to be seen. Of course, this leads me to believe that Diego might die during the Fire Country season 3 premiere, which would make Bode and Gabriela’s romantic reunion even more frustrating. Diego shouldn’t have to die for Bode and Gabriela to be together. His character doesn’t deserve that, and it would feel like a cop-out to push the will-they/won’t-they couple together once more.
