Is Flower coming back to Ghosts? Most likely, yes! In the Season 3 Halloween episode, Sam, Jay and the remaining spirits attempted a séance to bring back Flower. Although they couldn’t reach her, they did find out that she never actually left the mansion. As it turns out, Flower had fallen down a well and gotten stuck. She was too far away for the group to find her, but we suspect the beloved hippie will turn up in the next few episodes.
While speaking to Variety after the Season 3 premiere, executive producer Joe Port kept mum about whether or not we’ll be seeing Flower again. “I think it takes some interesting turns,” Port said. “In terms of seeing ghosts going forward or not, this is the kind of show where you could see a ghost anywhere. We’ve hinted that ghosts are in heaven. They’re in hell, they’re on Earth, so I think there’s different ways to see people too.”
The showrunners have also been candid about how they chose the spirit that was going to get sucked off, revealing that they didn’t pick Flower until after they had written the Season 2 cliffhanger. “Flower checked a lot of boxes for a candidate,” executive producer Joe Wiseman told Entertainment Weekly. “It would be believable that she got sucked off because she had some growth toward the end of season 2, and there was a lot of different reactions people could have to her disappearing. Thor obviously, is going to be crushed. It’s the person he loves most in the world … And then other people are going to be jealous or be happy for her. It just seemed like it created a lot of stories for us to mine.”
Seeing how crushed the fans were over Flower’s ascension, its definitely possible that the EPs decided to write her back into the series. Fans have become very invested in her relationship with Thor (Devan Chandler Long), a Viking ghost from the early 1000s, will likely not be pleased if the couple doesn’t get a happy ending together.
While viewers wait to see if Flower will turn up again, they can get excited for the introduction of some new ghosts. TVLine learned in late February 2024 that New Girl alum Lamorne Morris will be joining the cast as Saul, a spirit who spends eternity tethered to a living human. While stopping by the mansion, he will reportedly hit it off with Prohibition-era singer Alberta (played by Danielle Pinnock).
Ghosts airs on CBS on Thursdays at 8:30 p.m. and is available to stream on Paramount Plus.
