Heidi Klum has commented on rumors that Simon Cowell secretly married his fiancé, Lauren Silverman, after the pair were engaged on Christmas Eve 2021.
The rumors started when Cowell’s former partner, singer Sinitta, was asked by Woman’s Magazine if Cowell and Silverman had set a wedding date. “Oh, are they not married yet?” Sinitta told the publication. “I’m not saying anything, but I’m sure they are married. I call her Mrs. Cowell anyway, so they may as well be.”
However, Sinitta has since walked back these comments, clarifying her remarks in an interview with the New York Post. “When asked, I playfully responded by pretending to be confused and joked, ‘Wait, aren’t they already married? I’m pretty sure they are?'” she told the publication.
“My intention was to deflect the question with humor, not to suggest that they had secretly married,” she said, adding: “To be clear, if they had married in private and I were aware of it, I would respect their privacy and not disclose such information.”
Despite Sinitta’s attempt to move the story on, it has gained legs—and now Klum has weighed in.
Klum—who is a judge alongside Cowell on America’s Got Talent—has confirmed that she has not yet received an invitation to her colleague’s wedding. She has said that being close friends with Silverman, she thinks she would have heard whether the pair were married or not,
“Well, where were we, Simon? I have my dress ready. I don’t know. I feel like Lauren would’ve told us,” she said, per The Sun.
“If they had married secretly and I knew about it, then it would obviously be a secret, so I would not have said anything,” part of her post read.
“Please, for future chats, don’t ask me when they will marry or when they will have more children because I do not know. I am chatty and enjoy having fun during conversations, but this comment has mistakenly created FAKE NEWS.”
Sinitta dated Cowell for two years, from 1982 to 1984, and the pair have since remained friends.
The America’s Got Talent judge first met Silverman in Barbados in 2004, when she was still married to his then-friend, Andrew. By May 2012, rumors that Cowell and Silverman were having an affair began to swirl. They initially denied rumors, but in July 2013, it was revealed that the pair were expecting a child together.
They welcomed their son Eric Philip Cowell on February 14, 2014. Cowell and Silverman became Instagram official in February 2016, and then on December 24, 2021, Cowell proposed to Silverman during a family vacation in Barbados.
Most recently, the couple spoke with People about wedding planning in April 2023, with Cowell saying it has been “easy.”
