It pains me to admit it, but Justin Hartley was right about the Tracker romance I’ve been waiting for. And it cannot be missed
It seems like Justin Hartley’s Colter Shaw doesn’t have much time for romance in Tracker, and while I’d love to see the main character start dating a specific character, it’s understandable why they haven’t gotten together (yet). The CBS action-drama, created by Ben H. Winters, is based on the 2019 book The Never Game by Jeffery Deaver (followed by three more novels). Tracker centers on Colter, a survivalist and (as the show’s title suggests) a tracker who travels the country, taking jobs from law enforcement or private citizens to find missing people.
In addition to Hartley, the cast of CBS’ Tracker includes Robin Weigert as Teddi Bruin, Abby McEnany as Velma Bruin, Eric Graise as Bobby Exley, and Fiona Rene as Reenie Greene. Throughout Tracker’s 13-episode season 1, the characters frequently worked together to assist Colter in various jobs. But amid all the work, sparks flew between Colter and Reenie, who have a romantic past as they once slept together. However, we may have to wait a long time for Colter and Reenie to get together on the CBS action series. During Tracker’s panel at San Diego Comic Con 2024, star and executive producer Justin Hartley mentioned the possibility that Colter and Reenie will act on their obvious feelings for each other soon. Unfortunately, the actor isn’t too optimistic about the pair’s chances. According to People, Hartley said, “I think the whole thing about [Colter] being heroic and brave becomes reckless and selfish [if he and Reenie become a couple]. Like, I’m going to leave home and go through all this and put myself in danger, and you’re coming back here worrying about me. I just don’t think that’s a good look.” It seems like Hartley is determined to keep Colter single for now. While the romantic in me (and a Colter and Reenie supporter) finds this surprising, it ultimately makes sense for his character. Colter is a lone wolf, with work keeping him busy almost 24/7. As Hartley said, the time he spends traveling and on the road wouldn’t be fair to his partner. Plus, Colter isn’t exactly the most open-hearted character when it comes to love. So when Tracker season 2 premieres, viewers should expect Colter to be (and remain) single.
