“It’s Time to Move On”: What’s Really Behind the 2024 Departures from Days of Our Lives

Days of Our Lives has seen frequent turnover with its cast and 2024 is no different, with several characters leaving the long-running soap opera. As one of the longest-running TV shows ever, Days of Our Lives has had hundreds of characters arrive and leave since 1965, when the show first premiered. From long-time performers like Bryan Dattilo to actors who only briefly appeared on Days of Our Lives, like Mila Kunis, and went on to have notable careers in movies and TV shows, the legendary soap opera takes all kinds of performers for decades or maybe just a short arc.
The series ostensibly follows the Brady and the Horton families; however, Days of Our Lives features many more characters from other families all with their own plots and schemes. Not every Days of Our Lives actor can become the longest-running soap opera actor in history, and there have been plenty of departures over the years. Characters who exited in 2023 include Chloe Lane (Nadia Bjorlin), Philip Kiriakis (John-Paul Lavoisier), Belle Black (Martha Madison), Shawn-Douglas Brady (Brandon Beemer), Talia Hunter (Aketra Sevillian), and Gabi Hernandez (Camila Banus). 2024 has seen a handful of cast members depart the series as well.
