Netflix just released a new Western series called Ransom Canyon this week that might just be the result. Its premiere season establishes an intriguing TV world in a modern-day Texas town populated with jaded ranchers, aspiring cowboys, and wealthy threats. Oh, and one mysterious stranger who finds his way into the eponymous community with his own secretive intentions because, well, every Western needs a drifter. The outlaw archetype is portrayed by rising star Jack Schumacher (S.W.A.T.), who recently opened up to MovieWeb about his all-new Netflix series, created by April Blair, and its potential beyond the first 10 episodes.
“I know that they’ve opened a writer’s room for Season 2, which is always a good sign,” Schumacher told MovieWeb. “I hound April and the other writers for any sort of information that they can give me. And every so often, they’ll spill a little bit of info. But I think they’re also wise to say no. They’re like, ‘No, because then you’re going to get married to this idea. And these things change…’ Everything that, you know, they’re coming up with right now is in its infancy. So yeah, I mean, I’m excited very much at the prospect of a Season 2.”
Co-Starring With James Brolin in ‘Ransom Canyon’
