Christian Grey isn’t baring as much as ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ fans had hoped.
Jamie Dornan is taking on the role of billionaire S&M enthusiast Christian Grey in the highly anticipated book-turned-movie Fifty Shades of Grey, but some fans may be disappointed in how much skin is shown in this erotic tale.
Despite the highly sexual content in the movie, the 32-year-old actor admitted to The Guardian that he will NOT be showing his “todger” on screen. That’s right, Dornan will not have any full-frontal scenes in the film. “You want to appeal to as wide an audience as possible without grossing them out,” he defended the decision. “You don’t want to make something gratuitous, and ugly, and graphic. There were contracts in place that said that viewers wouldn’t be seeing my …todger.”
If Christian Grey isn’t getting completely naked in the flick, what can fans expect from this film? “[Director] Sam [Taylor-Johnson] is a very bright woman, so there might be some suggestive elements to it, but I haven’t seen it at this stage, so it is hard for me to say,” he added of the level of nudity in the movie. “I’m aware of what we shot, and it wasn’t as if we shot a film without any action.”
One sexy scene that made it from the book into the film is when Grey spanks Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson) — but however it looks on screen, Dornan said shooting that part of the movie was anything but a turn-on. “Anyone who thinks actors get turned on doing sex scenes in films is mistaken,” he said. “There are dozens of hairy men standing around, moving cables and lighting equipment. That’s not sexy unless you’re into being watched, which I’m not.”
