Following Jason’s shocking departure in the previous hour, Bravo tries to survive without him in SEAL Team season 7, episode 6, and although they run into a few hiccups, they prove they can manage without their team leader. The Paramount+ military drama TV series, created by Benjamin Cavell, is in its last season, meaning it’s undergoing many changes. From a new era of warfare to Ray’s impending retirement and Jason’s mental health struggles, the SEAL Team main characters are really going through it. At least they have their brothers by their sides (for the most part).
SEAL Team season 7, episode 5, ended with Jason abandoning Bravo in Thailand to return home after his son, Mikey, tore his ACL. Jason leaving in the middle of a deployment is quite uncharacteristic, and his team was further confused by his recent decisions and actions. Nevertheless, Bravo pushes on without Jason in SEAL Team season 7, episode 6. The SEALs receive a new mission to capture Jun Yilin, a fentanyl precursor magnate associated with Sai Lou, a Chinese criminal syndicate. However, their op doesn’t exactly go smoothly, and the results aren’t ideal despite Bravo’s eventual success in grabbing Jun.
Does Bravo Successfully Capture June?
Following Jason’s departure, Bravo gets a new mission to take a step further in their pursuit to tie the Chinese government to Sai Lou’s drug trafficking operation in the sixth episode of SEAL Team season 7. The SEALs’ joint task force with the DEA has been a bit of a roller coaster so far, and the bumpy ride only continues. Bravo is tasked with capturing Jun Yilin in Cambodia, but they don’t have permission to extradite him to Thailand (yet). The United States doesn’t have an extradition treaty with Cambodia, meaning they first need permission to bring him across the border.
Bravo (including Omar, Sonny, Drew, Brock, and Trent) arrives at Jun’s hotel to surveil him and wait for the go-ahead to capture him. Unfortunately, while there, the SEALs noticed another team about to grab Jun. So, Omar gives the green light for Bravo to take Jun. They are successful in capturing the fentanyl precursor magnate, but the mysterious group of men from before tracks Jun and attempts to grab him from Bravo’s car. The team escapes, though, and headquarters steers them to an abandoned safe house where they try to wait until they get permission to bring Jun to Thailand.
The good news is that Bravo eventually gets the go-ahead to extradite June, but the bad news is that the unknown team finds them before they can leave the safe house. Thankfully, the SEALs previously prepared for this exact situation and get out alive with Jun in tow. So, perhaps Bravo isn’t too affected by Jason leaving in SEAL Team season 7. However, their mission is seemingly for nothing because China submitted an extradition request when they learned Jun was taken to Thailand. Since Jun is a Chinese citizen, China is prioritized over the United States, and Bravo is ordered to return home.
Why Ray Lets Omar Take The Lead During The Op
Before leaving for Cambodia in SEAL Team season 7, episode 6, Bravo has to decide who will stay behind to liaise with the DEA and Thailand’s attorney general’s office. Ray volunteers, leaving Omar in charge of the op in Cambodia. As some may recall, episode 5 featured tension between Ray and Omar. Omar (who was set to take over Ray’s role on Bravo after he retired) felt like Ray was consistently second-guessing his decisions and undermining his ability to lead the team. Now, Ray is setting Omar free and giving him the space to find his footing as a leader.
Omar stumbles a bit when he has to make a game-time call in SEAL Team season 7, episode 6. But, with experience and some advice from Drew, Omar is able to recover and lead the SEALs out of a tricky situation by the end of the hour. Even though SEAL Team season 7 features several massive changes for Bravo’s future, Omar has proved his ability as a leader, showing that the team is in good hands, even after the Paramount+ series ends.
Mikey’s Overdose Explained
While Bravo captures Jun in Cambodia in SEAL Team season 7, episode 6, Jason helps his son, Mikey, recover from his reconstructive ACL surgery. Sadly, Jason’s problems aren’t as much better at home as they are overseas. Mikey is in a lot of pain, and he has Percocet to help him manage it. Of course, he can’t take more than the recommended dosage as there is a high risk of addiction to Percocet. But when David Boreanaz’s Jason returns home after he was gone for a few hours, he finds Mikey passed out, barely breathing and with vomit all over him.
After rushing him to the hospital, the doctors stabilize Mikey, but since he stopped breathing in the ambulance, they have him on sedation while he recovers. Consequently, Mikey might have symptoms of confusion, irritability, difficulty concentrating, and memory issues (like Jason’s TBI). His blood tests show that tranq, a street drug, was in his system. Jason speaks with Mikey’s friend, Doug, who apologetically admits to giving Mikey a painkiller that was given to Doug by a friend when he got hurt wrestling. Mikey later wakes up, and the extent of his injuries is left unknown in SEAL Team season 7, episode 6.
Jason’s Struggle To Have A Balanced Life In SEAL Team Season 7 Continues
Jason blames himself for Mikey’s overdose (and Bravo’s almost failed mission in Cambodia), meaning his struggles first teased during SEAL Team season 7, episode 2, continue. Bravo-1 is torn between his work and personal life, and he’s unsure if he’ll ever have a perfect balance to both. Jason explains his concerns to Mandy, who tries and fails to comfort him.
Why Drew Wasn’t With Echo When They Died
Although it’s only a small part of the SEAL Team episode, Drew’s explanation as to why he wasn’t with Echo when they died is important. As many now know, Drew was a member of Echo when they all died in an explosion during an op many years ago. He lost his entire team, and that’s why he isn’t much of a team player.
However, now that the truth is out, Drew is becoming more open with Bravo. While surveilling Jun SEAL Team season 7, episode 6, Drew explains that he drove a Humvee over spike strips all those years ago. Since he was drinking at the time, Command sent Drew home as punishment, which is why he wasn’t with Echo during their last mission.
