At SDCC 2024, it was confirmed that Jay will finally be able to see the dead when the show returns. The Ghosts season 4 twist will change the series, but he doesn’t need to die to pull it off. Jay could have a near-death experience that brings him close enough to the world of the dead to be able to see the spirits. Previously, he believed he might be able to see ghosts in season 2 when he was recovering from a dangerous fall, but he quickly found out that he did not share his wife’s paranormal talents.
That said, it’s unlikely that Jay will have to die for him to see ghosts. While it’s one way for that to happen, there are other ways for Ghosts to achieve this without having to kill Sam’s husband. The writers can develop new ways for him to interact with the ghosts of the CBS series that no one previously knew about.
